Carlsbad Seapointe Resort

I recently stayed at the Carlsbad Seapointe Hotel and, while it has its charms, I’m puzzled by its glowing 4.7-star rating. This is a solid, serviceable property with a lot of positives, but it’s definitely showing its age. The Good Location, Location, Location: You can’t beat the setting—spectacular ocean views and close to everything Carlsbad has to offer. Whether you’re here for the beach, local attractions, or just some California sunshine, you’ll love where you are. Friendly Staff: The people who work here are genuinely helpful and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Their effort is obvious and appreciated. The Not-So-Good Dated and Worn: This hotel is about 30 years old, and it shows. The décor and furniture are tired. We actually covered the couches with towels just to feel comfortable sitting down. It's not really very clean. Sparse, Outdated Gym: The fitness center is almost an afterthought—located awkwardly near the lobby, separated only by a rope, and filled with old, minimal equipment. If working out is important to you, you’ll be disappointed. Overall Condition: While the location is fabulous, the property itself feels beat down and overdue for a serious refresh. Final Thoughts Carlsbad Seapointe has a lot going for it—mainly its unbeatable location and hardworking staff—but it’s not the luxury experience the reviews suggest. If you’re looking for a convenient spot with great views and you don’t mind some wear and tear, it’ll do the trick. But if you’re expecting a 4.7-star resort, you might want to adjust your expectations.

We celebrated a wonderful 31st wedding anniversary on this trip! We had a great time!!!! The place was great for us! Thanks to all the folks that helped us! We had dinner at The charthouse, we enjoyed the jacuzzi and the wonderful ocean views! We went to the Flower Firlds and Legoland and some great restaurants like Naked Cafe and Dinis!

The stay was a Mother’s Day gift for my sister. She really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was very clean and laid out nicely. We loved the short distance to beach. One thing to improve - the garage entry gate seems unstable and needs work.

Been coming here yearly for 25 years. We want to recognize Joseph from the maintenance department today. He came up to fix a slow shower drain. Arrived on time. Fixed the problem in minutes. Completely cleaned up the work area. Interacted positively. A great employee and a positive face for the Seapointe staff. Thanks Joseph!

A touch dated but lots of room to walk and pretty centralized if you’re ready to do a bit of walking!

Friendly staff, comfortable beds and nice overall. Close to the beach too…

Location was good for a visit to the beach . Pool areas were nice. Room was clean and spacious.

There was no restaurant on site. Had to drive off site to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I chose this resort because of proximity to the beach and because of the larger size units. We were pleased with both. However, the reality of the room we experienced was far from what I expected. Exhausted from a long day of travel, no one wants to have to deal with a dirty room, but that was our experience. I called the front desk to ask if they could send someone to care for a few items. I was quite pleased at how responsive they were, but I am still really unsure how their housekeeping staff could miss such very obvious things (bathtub wasn’t cleaned, faucets were dirty, baseboards and cupboards were dirty, high touch surfaces like doors and switches were grimy, and to top it all off, there was blood (!!!) on the bathroom door frame). If I could spot these things within minutes of being in the unit, surely their staff should be able to do the same. It’s so frustrating to go on vacation and spend $1000+ on accommodations for a few nights and this be the experience. Pros: Check-in was smooth Lots of space Parking was good Beach towels available for use Responsive staff at the front desk Cons: Dirty unit ‘Tired’ rooms; needs upgrading If we return to the area, we’ll choose somewhere else. Having a clean room is a very basic expectation.
