Having stayed here before, this should have been a convenient and hassle free stay before an early flight. There was an issue with the room. It was not addressed. After expressly asking for a new room we were moved to another location which was less suitable for our needs. It shouldn't have taken over hours for this to happen.
It was not entirely as I expected (or maybe the images gave me false expectations) - KM Hotel appears to be a converted student accommodation block, with no traditional reception, lobby or breakfast facilities. Keycards were collected from a separate building, which didn’t offer the welcoming experience I expected - neither in appearance, or personality of the front desk personnel. I was on the top floor of a four storey building with no lift, and felt anxious at the prospect of escaping the building in an emergency, but maybe there was another escape route, and I just didn’t spot it. Comfortable bed, smart bathroom, valuable power USB sockets(!) Bedside lights had rather odd switches which I presumed one to be broken, but the were both alike in having tiny little stalks which worked if you angled them ‘just so’.. TV had Freeview on offer, but no Smart Apps. Maybe I’m a skinflint, or maybe I didn’t read the descriptions closely enough, but it would seem appropriate to rename this property as KM Hostel - it doesn’t have the necessary facilities (in my experience) to call itself a hotel. And that lead photo of yellow/orange chairs in a public lobby was nowhere to be seen; is it even in Edinburgh? Evidently I am now too middle aged to be passive in my disappointment. Overall, ‘KM Hotel’ offers functional accommodation, with a clean, minimalist character, suited to visitors wanting basic, minimalist facilities. But a Premier Inn would be a good step up, for my needs at least.
Very noisy at night. And there is no elevator. We were at floor 3. After running the London Marathon, it was very inconvenient and painful to climb those stairs everyday. The room is very, extremely TINY but the bed was comfortable. Is a small room but with everything you need. And price affordable

Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Great area with easy walking distance to city centre and University campus as well as many other sights and attractions. The breakfast cafe was wonderful - convenient, great food and also very welcoming staff there.
Super location for visiting the Fringe. Massive comfy bed and lovely shower. Carpet was tired and scraggly. TV unfortunately was an ornament as no remote provided.
