GBConvenient location for the NEC and surrounding area. Budget-friendly price, so expectations were realistic. Friendly and welcoming staff throughout our stay. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable and set us up for the day. The resident black cat was a highlight. The framed “Geri Halliwell” lookalike wedding photo near reception genuinely made me laugh. The hotel's quirky character made it memorable. It had a strange Fawlty Towers charm that modern chain hotels often lack.
The hotel feels very dated and is in desperate need of refurbishment. Décor appears to have been preserved from the 1990s, with pine furniture everywhere. The bright yellow trim, plastic plants and mismatched furniture created a rather unusual aesthetic. Rooms were extremely warm, making it necessary to sleep with the window open. The bed was quite spongy and not particularly comfortable. Opening the window meant dealing with noise from pigeons and the nearby dual carriageway. I genuinely struggled to understand some of the very high review scores, given the condition of the hotel.
