Riu Palace Aruba - All Inclusive

We just had a lovely holiday at Riu Palace. The beach is amazing and the staff was great.

La comida considero que está a un nivel inferior de la calidad y servicios del Hotel. En especial almuerzo buffet y los restaurantes de especialidades, un par de estrellas menos.

Prime location; on the beach, walking distance to everything, both on the strip and on the beach. Loved the pool-bar staff, the huge pool, pool side activities and games, plenty of chaise available; Right on the beach, the palapas are nice, but they're all booked by 6AM. Newly renovated, spacious rooms (at least on the 4th floor of the NW. wing), California King is great. They have a lot of construction material in one parking lot, so they're still in the process of renovating. Daily cleaning. Fresh sheets, fresh towels. Included mini bar stocked with generic liquor, refrigerated water bottles, beer and sodas. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The all-inclusive part is worth the extra $1200-1300 pp for the week. Breakfast/Lunch & Dinner can easily run you $200 pp/day, unless you want to eat guac and chips or burgers and fries all day every day, in which case go for the cheaper $3700 / room / week option.

I requested 1 King bed room and 1 room with two double beds, for our two adult boys, in adjacent rooms or in proximity. We got 2, adjacent, King rooms and a lesson on RIU reservations , which informed us that while you may book something, you may get something else, even if you paid $5k per room. All-in-all it turned out ok, but it felt like a bad start especially when they say that for that amount of money they don't guarantee the room you requested. Wish I had known before. Other than that, we checked-in at 2:30Pm and were told that our rooms would be ready by 3PM. So we checked out the pool, dipped our feet in the ocean and kicked off our R&R vacay. When we finally got to our rooms @ 3:15 we discovered that they were still "under construction." One had been freshly painted that same day or the day before - the strong smell of paint was almost intoxicating. It took two days for the air to clear out, had to keep the balcony door open to air out the room, which is fine, except for the fact that opening the balcony door shuts off the AC... so our room wasn't exactly cool in the high 80° F weather. So we got into our bathing suits and starting baking under the sun. In the other room, they were still working, calking, or whatever. Lol. Oh well. We had an iron, but no ironing board, which took 24 hours to get, after it was requested multiple times. They're laid back with certain requests. There was No "Do-not-disturb" sign. The soap dispensers in the shower and bathroom are not optimal. They need to find another option. Clearly, the rooms were not ready yet... probably a couple of days too early.

During our stay at RIU Palace Aruba, Carmen at the main buffet made our experience truly memorable. She greeted our family with a warm smile every day and often brought our drinks before we even had to ask. She was incredibly attentive, efficient, and kept her area spotless even when it was busy. Carmen’s service really stood out and made our stay special. She deserves recognition from management for the amazing job she does.

Es mi segunda visita al Riu Palace, en general fue una buena estadía, destacando la calidad y empatía de su personal de aseo y de alimentación, salvo de algunas areas, tales como la recepción en donde olvidan que deben atender con interés lo que clientes le solicitan.

Hay una situación que estimo grave y que ocurre diriamente en la reserva de los lugares con sombra en la playa, es muy extraño que pese a que me lavantaba muy temprano para reservar un lugar apropiado colocando mis toallas, encontré siempre todas ellas ocupadas. ES ALGO MUY EXTRAÑO LO QUE DEBIERA SER INVESTIGADO, SE DEBIERA INVESTIGAR LO QUE ALLI OCURRE, ES MUY DESAGRADABLE QUEDAR SIN PROTECIÓN AL SOL.

Two stars but still a great place. It would’ve been a dream vacation, but their communication about transportation was terrible. They were supposed to provide all inclusive with transportation. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way and I wound end up spending $178 for transportation to and from the airport to the hotel. Quite excessive. Their reasoning was I was supposed to sign up seven days prior. They couldn’t get me in on the list. Very poor excuse and they never told me this to begin with. What I will tell you is that the property has beautiful beaches. The property is extremely clean. They have great food. The drinks were lacking as they did not have a good quality tequila. It was actually awful. All the other drinks were great. The bedroom was excellent, and the view views were stunning. I’ve been going to the RIU for 15 years. I’ve been to a lot of of them. This one was the best of the best except for the transportation. Unfortunately, for that, I give it two stars it kind of ruined everything else.

my room, I needed a double room and we got moved to a room where the shower didn’t work properly and ac wasn’t working properly. and had a very very bad smell in the room.
