The Raj Palace (Small Luxury Hotels of the World)

It was very well equipped, with comfortable beds, air conditioning, fan, and a really good service and facilities. The hotel in itself is a gorgeous building, and worth the stay just because of it

- Probably the most polite and helpful team I have seen in my life. - Food excellent, Cocktails good. - First actually good Coffee I had after three weeks of India (with an Italian Espresso Machine)

Three issues that MUST NOT happen in a 5* Hotel of this price level: - The Gym is basically non-existant. Equipment from the last millenium on the verge of breakdown, no water or towels, and a dysfunctional AC (does not cool despite switched on an hour prior to training) results in 35°C in the gym. - Issues with the warm water in the room: Shower water did not turn hot twice. Room service fixed it instantly, but took them some time. - Horrible smell (of urine) coming out of a sink in the floor next to the toilet. Luckily, the toilet had a door separating it from the bathroom.

A stunning heritage property. We were truly made to feel like royalty from the moment we arrived. Very friendly & attentive staff, beautifully kept grounds & great location.

Epic Place in a Wonderland!

Had a lot of potential charm but the age and lack of investment makes this not a 5 star locale. 3-4 and price point was high for quality

BreakfasT had a lot of food and all of it bad. Canned fruit, some fresh fruit as well, stale breads, pancakes made out of rice. Just dreadful and not the staff’s fault. The place is very old and has not had any needed investment to upgrade. Towels were old, shampoos and soaps not 5 star, the ac went out in the rooms but rather than pull out these ancient units they added mini split’s that didn’t work. Afternoon tea was expensive teabags and stale bread and Pastries. Location was not good. Concierge refused to call a cab for us and we ended up in a dangerous late night dodgy driver situation. Mattresses were hard and no sheets on bed just comforters that slid off. Under construction so very noisy.
