The Vanderbilt, Auberge Collection

we had the most magical 2nd wedding anniversary at the vanderbilt! we felt like royalty from start to finish. we worked alongside their lead concierge, Morgan, who helped us book newport reservations, sailing, etc. she even helped my husband to have roses and champagne in the room upon arrival. we were greeted by name by all staff at all times. the valet was stellar, so hard working and prompt. the waitstaff was knowledgeable and professional. the vibes of the hotel are what sold us. we loved spending time in the garden, by the pool, and even in our room! it’s so perfectly located, everything is walking distance. if you’re looking for a luxe auberge stay, stay here. 10/10.

If you’ve recently watched the shows “1923” and “The Gilded Age” it’s not too hard for one to easily be enthralled by the timeless grandiose splendidly that captivates one’s spirit when they walk through the door at The Vanderbilt! That’s what we immediately felt when we entered the mansion. It was as if we were either reliving or cosplaying one of F.Scott Fitzgerald’s novels! It was both subliminal yet surreal!! Similar to many floorplans of the time there were no formal, corridors. That you had to walk through one room to get to another. Whether it’s the vibrant red pool room, the tranquil indoor swimming room, stunning sun-baked dining room with its gorgeous awning or the rooftop with this breathtaking views of greater Newport, each space transcends you into a different state of mind. It’s such a beautiful experience that can only say that you have to be there to feel. Now I’m not going to lie, I was very nervous before booking at The Vanderbilt. At the time, I had never booked a hotel room for that much a night. However, given the special occasion, I was willing to splurge a little more in order to have an experience of a lifetime! That said. I wanted to call ahead and see what options were available to me and what the hotel had to offer. Little did I know that phone call would be one of the best decisions I would ever make in picking a hotel!! First and foremost, I called to ask what were my options as an AMEX Fine Hotel and Resorts member and what I was trying to accomplish during my duration. I managed to get the very person who could help me the suite I needed in order to get this set up: Heather, the front desk manager. Now if you’ve read my profile as of recent, I’ve stayed at my fair share of 5-star hotels as of recent. At the time, never before have I had a front desk manager go above and beyond her job the way Heather did! Like OMG people!!! She not only got me set up in the right room, but with THE RIGHT PERSON! Enter Lead Concierge Morgan. Ladies and Gentlemen, there is not enough time in the day or year to express the sheer amount of work she had put into making my stay with my girlfriend (soon to be wife) a success! The countless, painstaking, Reservations, planning, modifications and REplanning…she did it all!!! Mind you that I can be quite meticulous and persnickety when it comes to the details. She hung right in there EVERY STEP OF THE WAY! When I tell you she was my spirit animal, I’m not joking! Get this, even when the engagement ring didn’t fit (amazing story, btw), she found me a list jewellers!! Tell me how many concierges will do that, let alone have the patience to do so! Prior to our departure, we decided to not only leave her the flowers, but an amazing letter telling her all the amazing work she did! Morgan, I cannot express how grateful I am for your support and hard work. You have not only earned my respect but, my friendship!! :-) Also special thanks to all the following wonderful people: Front desk: Heather, Luke and Kate Housekeeping: Claudia and Cliff Valet: Matt, Daniel and Sayed Dining: Ivan, Jackie, Cindy and Ellis NOTE: Please forgive me for anyone that I’ve missed. Your hard work does not go unnoticed by me. Overall, I have to give The Vanderbilt a 5/5 for sure because they went above and beyond!! if there was an issue, they fixed it right away! And I cannot stress enough the groundwork Morgan did to make this reservation a magical experience!!! Our biggest regret is that we only had two days to experience this place. We look forward to coming back and emphatically recommend this hotel and resort to anyone!! we will certainly be recommending it to folks in our circle!!

Stayed here for three nights for a couple get away. Very disappointed after our stay as we had high expectations and were excited to stay in Auberge property. Primarily disappointed in the room and staff service. Our room was advertised as a loft suite …we were on the 3rd floor and the room was more like an attic bedroom than a hotel room suite. It was overall outdated and extremely dark. One small window on lower floor and the top floor w the bedroom had no windows. It had two skylights that the screens did not function so it remained extremely dark. We could not get comfortable in the room due to the enclosed feeling and darkness. The bathroom faucet also malfunctioned and the water was not able to be turned off (not just a drip, a full flow of water at all times). More disappointing than the room was the staff service. We mentioned the skylight not working and faucet issue the day of check in. It took us complaining three times until someone actually checked it out. We were then told the issues could not be fixed and offered nothing else - no room adjustment anything. The water issue was extremely frustrating as there was truly a full stream of water coming out of the faucet at all times. This was noisy and made getting ready in the bathroom very difficult. (And not environmentally friendly to just ignore this issue). I am sure we are not the first guests to complain about this as nobody seemed too concerned and just brushed it off. A hotel of this level should not have these type of issues, especially unresolved over a three day stay. The hotel lobby and grounds were very nice and kept clean. Restaurant staff was very friendly. Rooftop bar was quite disappointing- view primarily of a parking lot. Good location. Overall I would NOT recommend this hotel to others & would not stay here again. We debated between staying at the Vanderbilt or 41 North - I would highly suggest 41 north for anyone looking for an actual luxury hotel w good service.

Beautiful hotel with extremely friendly and helpful hospitality team right in downtown Newport. Walking distance to dining and shopping. Great experience options provided. I would come back to this hotel in future Newport visits!

We were there for our daughter's wedding. We had the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception at The Vanderbilt. Everyone in the hotel made us feel special and the wedding was beautiful and perfectly executed. If you are having an intimate wedding, I truly can't imagine a more perfect setting!!

The Vanderbilt is an excellent hotel in a great location. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurants had delicious food, and the bar had a nice wine and cocktail list. This hotel is 5 stars, and they deserve every one of them.

An amazing group of people made this stay very memorable. A beautiful, clean and delightful room. 100% will recommend and stay again. Highly recommend you take the time to explore all the areas of the hotel. One area is nicer than the other over and over.

Had a wonderful stay with my family. Indoor and outdoor heated pools were nice. The rooftop bar is worth the visit alone to the property with its tasty cocktails and beautiful views. This property is a central location in Newport for lovers of history, shopping, and the ocean.
