Checked in, walked into my room instantly told my kids to go back to the car. There was piss on the mattress, it was a non smoking room but i couldnt breathe past the cigarette smell, ceiling in the bathroom was collapsing, black mold all over the shower, didnt look like it had ever been cleaned. Went straight back to the front desk to check out and get refunded, and they said they cant refund me.

Goofy hotel that needs more work. On the plus side, it is affordable, has nice lobby, each room with fridge, microwave, safe and coffee maker. On the negative side, the furniture is old and worn out, rooms were marginally clean and the whole place needs serious upgrades.

"Don't Book A Room Here"

The whole building is in disrepair and desperately needs to be cleaned and updated. I was given a room with an adjoining room which I could hear the people next to me (the hotel far from full). The bed looked as if someone had slept on it, the window crank was broken leaving the window open a few inches plus the screen was ripped and would not stay in. The lamp was dirty and ripped. The bathroom sink stopper was broken leaving the stopper in the down position where the water would not drain, the faucet was not secure whereas you could move it left or right. The tub tiles had filthy grout and taps/spout. I would not touch the rug with my feet as it was evident it was not vaccumed and who knows when it was last cleaned. The elevator was dirty and since repairs do not seem a priority, I was hesitant to use the elevator. The whole place seems stuck in the 70's. Wish I had read the reviews before booking. Spend a few more $ and get a clean room somewhere else.

"The worst "

This is the worst place I ever stayed at. The room was filthy when I got there the linen on the bed was nasty had stains on it hair and crumbs.

The room was extremely dirty. We had driven from Canada and were very tired. The young man at the desk was very apologetic but showed us another room but it was worse. Dirty toilets, feces everywhere, dirty carpets, sheets questionable. We booked through Expedia, who was extremely rude and would not help us in any way. We were hung up on and we were not being abusive in any way. We did not agree with getting charged for the night. We agreed to change to the “days inn” but Expedia was trying to charge us more than the going rate since I could see the rates as we were talking to them. At one point we Somehow got disconnected and had to call back again. We got someone that was worse and told us the cancellation was a 100$ even though the person before said it was 69.$ The room was 86.$ per night. Will never use Expedia again. The young man at the Howard Johnson promised he would return our money and he did but it took a few days, no thanks to Expedia! All this time wasted on the phone with Expedia and it was my birthday that’s why we drove to Helena for a few days.
