"Birthday Trip"

2.0

WORST FOOD EVER and even worse wait staff for my 40th birthday dinner. Not one single person enjoyed their food. Meals came out cold, under cooked, sloppy and cheaply put together. Quite frankly we will never eat at the restaurants here again along with our entire group. Everyone spent money on food that should have been taken back. I do not think the cooks are capable of gourmet food as was described to me when I decided to have the dinner at the resort. We were the ONLY people in the entire restaurant, there were 2 waitresses and they could not be more rude or incapable of handling our group. It seems that their is no leadership able to train and run this establishment at a level where they claim to be. I was embarrassed by the service and putting my family and friends through this experience. Money down the drain. Our captain suite was ill kept. I had housekeeping come as soon as we got there to vacuum and take out trash that was clearly left behind by previous guests. For the price we were charged, walking into this suite was a huge disappointment for my entire family. The upholstered couch and chair I wouldn't even sit in because of the stains and smell. It's so run down and a complete eye sore. I brought my own cleaning sprays and wiped everything down including the fridge that was also left untouched from the previous guests. We were married here and continue to come multiple times a year for birthdays, celebrations and anniversaries and everytime there are more and more issues and disappointments. The owner has this property on Lake Michigan and that is the only reason why we come. I don't even think the owner would pay money to stay here.

"Great getaway with grandkids"

10.0

This was our first time at Blue Harbor. We brought our 2 grandsons age 3 yrs old and 7 yrs old. We choose the kid boathouse room. The room was clean and spacious with a fireplace. The kids cubby with a bunk bed and single boat bed was perfect for the 2 boys. The room also had a microwave and mini refrigerator. The waterpark was great for all ages. Both boys had a blast. Both of our grandsons have completed infant rescue swimming and it was great that they were not required to wear a life vest. They are both strong swimmers. The 3 yr old could go on the tube water slides with an adult plus the body slides by himself. We are a water family and I have to say I have never seen such competent lifeguards. They were all doing there job. They did not socialize but paid attention to the water. The lifeguards at the flowrider surf pool were beyond patient. They provided education and guidance for children who never did a flowrider. My grandson never did the flowrider and the lifeguards guided him to be successful and provide a safe and positive experience.I have no idea how much the lifeguards make but they deserve a raise.

"Great property, needs some upgrades"

8.0

We spent the weekend at Blue Harbor resort with our 3 year old and infant. The good: -Our 3 year old loved the boat house room and the water park! The toddler slides were perfect for her and she rode the slides probably over 100 times during the three days that we swam. -The outside of the property is very pretty. It is winter time so we couldn't enjoy the beach and outside areas in the back of the resort, but I definitely think we would enjoy it! -The food and drinks at the water park were much better than I expected! And decently priced. -There are lots of good restaurants right around the resort to get dinner! The bad: -This resort is in desperate need of room upgrades. Everything is worn and old looking. The wallpaper in the boat house room was peeling. You can tell they just threw silicone caulk over mold in the shower. It just really needs a refresher. For the price per night I'd expect the rooms to be a bit nicer. -The cocktails in the bar were not good. I ordered The Wisco and it tasted like flat sprite. I can usually choke a bad drink down but I gave up and ordered wine. I'd stick to the beer and wine when you go! Overall we had a fun weekend and would return. I think this resort could be amazing with some renovations because the property can't be beat. I hope this is something that will happen in the near future!!

"Worst 1000 spent ever!!!"

2.0

So where do I begin, let's start with the room we had was the captain suite (1000 dollars for 2 nights) which had a full kitchen. First night there we put some pizzas in the oven to make them with foil under them. Opened the oven and smoke just poured out, room filled with smoke and no windows to open. The oven must not of been cleaned since last people. We call front desk and maintenance comes up. TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEY REMOVED THE SMOKE DETECTORS!!! I said what if there is a fire, he said it will be OK. Now our room smells like smoke all night. We go into our room and the TV does nothing, had to unplug everything to get it reset so we can watch TV. Next morning get up to shower and the shower barely drains so I'm standing in 3 inches of water. My son uses the toilet that night and it barely flushes and had to get maintenance to bring a plunger. The tiles by the tub are missing grout and looks gross. The whole time we got no sleep due to the beds being as hard as a rock. Not what we thought we would get for a 1000 dollars to celebrate our sons 13th birthday. Hopefully they contact us to refund our money if they care.

"winter getaway"

8.0

Very clean hotel, warm waterpark air but not humid. Lazy river was warmest water to lounge in. Huge pretzels at pool cafe were a hit. Coffee maker in our loft room did not work as we found out just before checkout for a cup of coffee. Loft room was expensive at $515.00 as opposed to when we stayed in June few years back at $267.00; same type of room. I asked lady hotel clerk at front desk but got no adjustment for it ; instead had to buy a cup of coffee from the lobby coffee stand. Food at bar restaurant was delicious, patty melt, burger, fries, but they ignored my request to have aioli on the side for shrimp tacos which had tails on them. Pepcid to the rescue that long night. Ice cream parlor was still under construction but looks to be spacious. Souvenir shop was relocated to a 3rd floor conference room. Be prepared to pay $30 for a BH tshirt. Overall would recommend for family stay with the many food options, bar, waterpark, arcade, mini golf, free parking, and shuttle to the villas.

Hotel is really awesome, the only thing that I didn’t like was the cleaning person pounding on the room door at 8:00 am after a long drive got there late the night before, she really shouldn’t be pounding on the door to wake people up.

"Family gathering"

10.0

This resort was outstanding. All the staff was friendly and attentive. The water park was just the right size. We were worried it would not be enough for a 10 year old boy but the surf simulator was a big hit. The water park staff went beyond expectations assisting with the surfing. The food and menu at the water park was delicious and affordable. Our villa was very clean, beds comfortable, and roomy for all 12 of us.

"Very Happy with our Stay"

10.0

The resort and facility are exceptionally well maintained. Beautiful and clean in all the areas we encountered. Our room was spotless and spacious. We had a "Boat Room" which was perfect for 75 yr old Grandma and two 13 year old girls. We could have easily added another person to the "Boat" bedroom (there are 3 singles). Water Park well maintained and many areas for "Grandma" to sit, read, and relax while girls enjoyed the waterpark. Did not eat at the restaurant but did grab coffee and snacks from the "quick" area. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Granted, the per night rate is pricey but we were very happy with our decision and would highly recommend Blue Harbor
