Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa

Very disappointed with the hotel and golf course. Hotel was understaffed. Adult pool area was full but the bar at the pool was not open. two servers at JT's lobby bar on busy nights. They were hustling but could not keep up. Service at there supposedly nice restaurant Brocks was underwhelming. Food was mediocre. Only good service was doorman/valet. On the golf course side be prepared for a 5.5 or 6 hour round. This was a real disappointment for what is supposed to be a well run RTJ course. The pace of play was supposed to be 4 hours 20 minutes. We were waiting 15 minutes at each hole. No marshal on the course until number 9. He asked how we were doing. Told him we needed to stop after nine due to dinner commitment and did not expect 3 hours for first nine holes. He said people were not used to green speeds and it normally took 5 to 5 and half to play. We were on pace for 6 as the few groups ahead of us were slow and no Marshal was pushing them. We did complain and they gave us credit for the nine holes we did not get to play. It was a shame because we are playing well and it is a nice course. One of the two beverage carts also broke down.

I forgot how nice this hotel is. I travel 80+ nights a year and a bunch of them are in the Birmingham area so I’ve stayed in almost every hotel in town. But while this place is not really convenient to anything but this golf course, it is a really, really nice hotel. The best in the city. The rooms are immaculate with nice balconies and the common areas are spectacular… The pool… the fitness center… the fire pits, all of it. Kudos to the staff.

We enjoyed the stay, the rooms were clean with beautiful pool and golf course views. The resort is located in a beautiful neighborhood. Breakfast was very nice. I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. The spa was amazing and the staff there were great. More attention is needed at the pool. The upper pool was not cleaned for the two days we spent there. We wanted to use it but it was visibly dirty.

Loved the room. The beds were very comfortable.

The indoor pool was supposed to be heated and it was not. The hot tub was also on the cooler side. At 11:30pm I could hear very loud people in the hallway outside of my room.

Disappointing. I chose the Renaissance to stay one night just as a break from home and having enjoyed both personal and business visits here over the last 10 years. Basic food ordered in the bar was slow to arrive and bar staff seemed to acknowledge between themselves this isn’t unusual. The potato chunks were undercooked and hard to eat. The steak sliders were awash with aioli or dressing and messy. Different bartenders poured different measures of drinks without asking which was ok as they were charged appropriately but still confusing. As others have commented in their experience, our TV couldn’t connect to the internet apps, nor would it connect to permit casting from phones. Two ‘engineers’ performed resets and had no luck. No other rooms were available to move to. To be fair we received 2 Buffet breakfast vouchers $34 value each and 2 $15 drink vouchers, good through the next day. The final bizarre experience was the inappropriate comment made to my partner when she was picking up a pen and note from the Omelette ordering station to fill out at our table. The omelette chef apparently was trying to be funny or flirtatious or who knows and commented about what you call someone who takes something away without permission. I turned up at that point to hear her say she didn’t necessarily have to order an omelette anyway. He apologized to her when he brought the omelettes to our table. Not the most fun way to spend around $600, I have to say. The one person who literally didn’t skip a beat was the sunset bagpiper who was excellent.
