This resort was absolutely gorgeous!! Me and some other guys played golf here for the first time and the course was absolutely beautiful. Staff was nice and big shoutout to the bartender I believe her name is April for getting they guys right before going out to play and telling us about all the amenities. We will be back!

We have stayed at the Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa more times than I can count over the past decade, and every visit has been a little more disappointing than the last. What used to be one of our absolute favorite spot in Alabama for family weekends (hosting big groups, multiple rooms, kids in tow) has finally, sadly, been crossed off our list for good. This last trip in October 2025 was the breaking point. The property is visibly tired—peeling paint in the hallways, stained carpets that look like they haven’t been deep-cleaned in years, and an overall musty smell the second you step off the elevator. Our “resort view” room had chipped furniture, a shower that barely trickled hot water, you literally have to turn the sink on first to get the hot water to run in the shower. Our balcony door wouldn’t lock properly. The hallways were cluttered with room-service trays that sat for hours and, yes, constant barking dogs (apparently the pet policy is now enforced very loosely). It felt less like a luxury resort and more like a roadside motel that just happens to have a pretty golf course. The food has fallen off a cliff. The breakfast buffet that used to be legendary—fresh omelets, carving stations, piles of shrimp and crab legs on weekends—is gone. What’s left is a sad continental setup with soggy bacon, powdered eggs, and fruit that looks like it came from the discount bin. Dinner at JT’s Grill was honestly a step above Applebee’s, and not by much. Overcooked steaks, lukewarm sides, and a wine list that hasn’t changed since 2018. Front-desk and concierge service was the real low point. Jessica, who seemed to be in charge most of the weekend, was curt to the point of rude when we asked about late checkout or extra towels. Zero sense of urgency, zero warmth, and a clear attitude that we were inconveniencing her by… checking into the hotel we had paid a hefty price for. It felt like the staff had been told guest satisfaction is secondary to hitting whatever internal bonus metrics upper management cares about this quarter. The one bright spot—literally the only reason this isn’t a one-star review—was Carlos. That man hustled all weekend: grabbed extra chairs when our group overflowed the lobby, tracked even helped carry shopping bags up to the room. He remembered every family member’s name and made us feel like someone at Ross Bridge still cares. If every employee were half as good as Carlos, this place might have a fighting chance. We had issues with the tv that were not solved the entirety of our stay. Multiple maintenance men tried to help but it was never resolved. The bathrooms had to be re-cleaned on the last two stays. There was residue from dripping shampoo and conditioner underneath the handicap rail that had not been cleaned in weeks, maybe months. It was visibly thick and when my wife went to hold on to it she was left with a handful of slimey mold. The previous time black mold had to be cleaned from the shower. They, at one time, had Aveda products, but have since switched to Kevin Murphy and ironically they have the rooms filled with a product called “young again” that smells like old lotion! Whatever you do, if noise bothers you don’t book rooms with an adjoining door unless it’s your family. We could hear entire conversations going on in the next room. Bottom line: Ross Bridge is coasting on its once-stellar reputation and gorgeous grounds while everything else crumbles. Until ownership decides to invest in actual maintenance and serious staff retraining (starting with management), we’re done. There are too many other nice places in the Birmingham area that haven’t forgotten what Southern hospitality is supposed to look like. Sadly, after more than ten great trips over the last seven years, this one was the last. Ross Bridge is officially off the list.

My company hosts regular meetings at this hotel, but it was my first time to attend—and wow, was I impressed! The space and location are beautiful. We didn’t play golf, but the course looks incredible and picturesque. We had a catered lunch, and it was excellent. Also, hands down the best coffee I’ve ever had in a meeting. The staff was friendly and attentive, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Well done, Ross Bridge—can’t wait to come back!

We played four rounds of golf. Ross Bridge was an overwhelming experience with great views, huge fairways, large undulating greens that were extremely fast (11.5 stimp) and elevated greens. Oxmoor ridge was extremely difficult with target golf off the tees, bent greens, tight fairways and penal rough. Oxmoor valley was less penal with flatter fairways, lots of bunkers, Bermuda rough and greens and scenic views. I loved all three courses. The fourth round was at oxmoor ridge because I needed a second chance to redeem myself. I am a 3 handicap, my husband is a 9, and our playing partners were a 14 and 20. We all loved the courses. The rounds were all around 4.5 hours at most. I highly recommend these courses.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 10 days on a golf trip. From the time we checked in till the time we left every staff member we came in contact with was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Housekeeping accommodated any request we had. We ate at the three restaurants in the hotel and the food was very good in all of them. The golf course is spectacular and I could’ve played on that course every day. I would definitely return to this hotel for my next stay as well as more rounds of golf on the course. I will definitely recommend to friends and family. A big thank you to everyone at this hotel for a wonderful 10 day stay.

Patricia was amazing! The room was clean and comfortable. The food was delicious. The pool area for adults was a beautiful and refreshing place. Loved it. Breakfast was tremendous.

Valet was missing everytime we came by it.

Staff in the restaurant need better attitudes. The waiter named Joshua was amazing.
