The location and atmosphere of the hotel is great. The room are roomy.

The water pressure in our shower was terrible and staff said it was due to the laundry they were using in the morning. That seemed strange timing.

We did not stay there. The owner became loud and threatening and violent and refuses to refund our money. So we filed a claim at the bank .

We visited Monterey specifically for the Big Sur Marathon, so the location was perfect. One block from the Expo and bus pick-up. The hotel itself is very charming as it’s a historic building with beautifully maintained grounds. The room was big and cozy and came with a working fireplace. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and made the stay very pleasant. I would highly recommend booking at Merritt House!

The location was extremely close to downtown. We went to a comedy show at the golden state theater, easy 4min walk. Great restaurants nearby. The wharf was walking distance.

Parking was a little tight.
