"Relaxing and charming place to sleep when exploring Carmel"

Very charming and cozy decor, it was winter so the tent was up in the courtyard which was slightly an eye sore but the staff was very attentive and helpful. Loved how small and quiet it was.

The outdoor area was covered by a large tent.

"It is a very cute hotel but it did not remind me of a relias and chateaux."

The bell boys were so helpful as was the front desk receptionist when we checked out. We also loved the welcome treats and bed time treats. Our room was superbly clean!

breakfast in the courtyard was cute and delicious. I found it odd and less than lovely that we were looking at the summer furniture stacked up in front of us. The receptionsit when we checked in was lacking and it felt like we were bugging her.

The location couldn't have been better. The hotel itself is charming and historic. Aesthetically lovely. The breakfast provided was delicious. The valet was great, but that's the most I can say for the staff.

We had a very disappointing experience with the hospitality staff. When we arrived our room was not ready. While we understand that check-in delays can occur, the handling of our arrival was disorganized and lacked attentiveness. We were neither oriented to the property nor offered a comfortable alternative while waiting. After standing awkwardly for a few minutes, I asked if there was somewhere we could sit and enjoy a cappuccino. The front desk staff directed us to the bar with our dogs. As we waited, another family with small children was visibly upset about a similar delay and their inability to access their luggage. The interaction with the front desk staff during this time was terse and unplesant, little effort was made to accommodate their needs. After sitting in the bar for 15 minutes without anyone taking our order, I returned to the front desk to follow up. The staff member then located the bartender, who, upon arrival, seemed annoyed by our presence inside with the dogs. She said that dogs were not permitted indoors. Had we been informed of this policy earlier, we would have gladly gone outside. Her tone made us feel as though we were being unreasonable and entitled by being at the bar, where we were told to be. The front desk person observed this and said nothing. The rest of the stay every time I entered a space with staff, there was a strange vibe, like they were surprised or off put that a guest appeared. We felt unwelcome throughout the stay. When we we checked out there were multiple errors on the ledger. We figured it out but there was no apology or acknowledgment for the hassle. I wrote an email to the hotel manager. She refunded the $250 pet fee, which was nice, but there was still a dismissive tone. She informed me that they are not a part of the L'auberge Group, they just use the name in response to my statement that we have been to other L'Auberge properties and have had great experiences. So take that as you will.
