USGot there, there was a chain around the front door. This was a small town and we were riding our motorcycles and had ridden about 400 miles thus far, on our way home from New Orleans. I had made reservations the night before. The front desk woman, "pretti" was no where to be found, another young woman who had just checked in was looking for her as well to ask about the pool and said that she thought she had just taken off in her car. I googled the hotel to obtain the number and got through, "pretti" answered and said she would be right out. She explained her key didn't work quite right so she had to chain the door closed when she left and had forgotten to take the chain off when she came back. That should have been our first clue, but the lobby looked clean and neat so we moved forward. We got our room, OMG..the paint on the outside of the doors was dirty and run down. I opened the door, initially the room looked roomier than I was thinking. We began to bring our belongings in, I sat on the small couch just inside of the door, it smelled of urine. The TV was the old box type that did not come in clear, the remote did not work. The jetted tub jets were so filthy and disgusting...I did not bathe there. I would never stop here...We were just too tired from our ride we did not change motels. This was second best on trip advisor...wow..how misleading...I wondered what the 3rd ,4th and 5th ones were like...Terrible, heebie jeebie stay...dont stop here,,,keep going!!!!!
I had a reservation at Days Inn, but the lobby stunk of cigarettes so I came down the street to The Dumas Inn. I was immediately impressed with the simple, yet elegant lobby/breakfast area. I requested a no-smoking room and noticed that almost all the rooms were marked on the outside doors with a sign that they were no smoking rooms. My room was very clean. It did not smell of chemicals and cover-ups, it just smelled and looked very clean. The Continental Breakfast was very basic and my only complaint would be the lack of wheat bread, but the little muffins were fresh and very tasty.
USThis seemed like an older establishment but the room was very clean. Would probably stay again if needed.
Did not like my stay at this motel or this town, unfriendly people in the town of Dumas, AR. Very disappointed.
