Great Lakes Motel

I have stayed here previously, it needs a little updating and was cleaner on previous trips. There was a dirty coffee cup in our room and coffee left in the pot.

Staff was very nice. Room is way outdated.The floor had lots of feet prints on it. Very dirty. glad we brought our own sheets.

Cute, clean, comfy old time motel. I had room 115. Everything worked fine, plenty of lights, plenty of accessible outlets for charging, mini fridge with freezer section for ice packs. It was very quiet, no shared walls with other rooms. Comfy bed, good pillows, great water pressure, nice towels. Heater/AC worked fine. Interior door trim needs repair but the door itself was secure. The bathroom door knob and toilet roll holder need tightening up with a screwdriver. Don't let the few dings on the wall bother you, you're not buying the place! It was nice to be able to park right next to the room door.

People were really nice, but it was dirty. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned, light didn’t work, no coffee refilled from before, smelled like smoke. Bed was comfy. You get what you pay for.

First off, thought that we checked in okay. The lady from the office had our key ready. She was hanging out with the obviously long term guests. She went into the room first to make sure that it was cleaned. We have different opinions as to what clean is. I have pictures. Nasty room. Tub was dirty and mildew. Brown water came out of the shower. Although I didn’t see any bugs, I made sure not to leave anything on the floor. There was a refrigerator that had a branch holding the stuff on the shelf. I managed to fall asleep, when we got woken up at 10:45pm with banging on the door. It was a different woman from the office. She wanted us to come down to the office to give her our ID. We were already asleep in our pajamas. Heck no I won’t be going down to the office with you. Not our problem that the other woman didn’t check us in properly. She let me email her a copy of my license. Picture in the room was hung upside down. Crazy place. Run, do not walk.

This was my second stay at this motel in the past year--in the very same room, in fact--and again I enjoyed my stay. The motel is located conveniently on the eastern edge of town, with comfortable bed, fridge & microwave, and decent wifi. I was unhappy that the reading lamps adjacent to the bed had been removed. The bathroom is classic midcentury tile with a large walk-in shower. But a shelf to put personal toiletry items appears to be missing, which was a disappointment--and surprisingly there was no guest soap. I make a point of staying at independent motels and enjoyed this place previously--I hope ownership addresses some of the comfort & convenience issues that have arisen at this wonderful & historic motor court.

There was no toilet paper in my hotel room . So getting back late from the bar at night and having to take a dump was not a good thing I should have used their bed sheets.

This place is a gem, a vintage midcentury motel that's been well-maintained and also features modern conveniences. I try to patronize locally & independently owned classic motels and this place was everything I could have hoped for: clean, comfortable and spacious. Fridge, microwave, flatscreen TV, wifi...it was all good. Fabulous roomy tiled shower. Plush towels and crisp linen. I would definitely stay here again.

Bathroom wasn't very big or nice. Needed to be updated. A non-smoking room and it smelled like cigarettes.
