Great Lakes Motel

This Great Lakes Motel was the worst place that I have ever stayed. It was a complete dump, from outside the property to inside the room. There were dead bugs on the floor and stuck in Cobb webs in the corners. The metal cabinet exterior of the refrigerator was all rusty, the room smelled musty. If it had not been a no refund policy I would have never checked in. The Grounds are very trashy looking, although the grass was cut there was old wood and materials laying all around the property. Unsafe electrical wires hanging all over the property. This Motel had a 6.6 out of 10 stars rating and I see no way that could be possible. Three stars would be generous. I am including some pictures of the exterior. I was in town in Fremont, OH for my Marine Corps reunion with my Marine Brothers I served with 30 plus years ago. I have been in some pretty uncomfortable places and conditions before, that isn’t the point here. When I am paying $135.00 a night in a supposed 6.6 stars establishment with trash and unsafe wiring all over the property. Nobody should have to be expected to pay to be in dirty unsafe conditions. I gave my credit card in advance to book the stay and had a no cancellation refund policy attached to it. The pictures online are not great, but they don’t represent the reality of how bad and dirty this establishment is. Very disappointed, the property should be inspected, I believe it would be shut down. There are safety risks all over that property. Huge Disappointment.

Spiderwebs in the room, room air conditioner was so noisy i couldn't sleep well. Room was not clean. furniture was crappy.

We weren't sure what to expect just from looking at the photo on Expedia, but were very pleasantly surprised. The carports were perfect for our motorcycles; the king bed was comfortable, water pressure in the showers was probably the best we've ever had in a hotel. The air conditioning unit was another pleasant surprise as it provided "white noise" while we slept so we had a great night's sleep. The next time we are in the area, this will be our choice to stay. And even better, it was significantly cheaper than the hotel chains in the area.

Everything was pretty clean, but there were days that they did not come to take trash or clean. The checkout process was difficult because there was no one there to perform the check and there was no other choice but for me to just leave the cards there and call back up later.

This place had a covered individual parking place with each room. The HVAC was remote controlled and located at the top of the room, on the side so the heat stayed up around the ceiling, it the summer it might have been better cause cold settles. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well. No breakfast was offered.

Very surprised. Small town motel. But ample room. Good shower. And a carport!

We waited 3 hours for owner to come to motel. He never showed. His helper could not give a lot. We told the owner on the phone that we are canceling. We booked a room at comfort inn a few miles away. Please cancel that reservation.
