Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa

I have mixed feelings about this Hyatt. The resort is a large, pretty property with beautiful pool areas. It's great for families and dog owners; but in some ways it looks a bit more luxe than it actually is. That seems to mirror Huntington Beach, which isn't as upscale as the beach towns to the south. No doubt for that reason, the resort is also priced better than similar properties in, say, Laguna or Newport Beach, so that's a draw. We've stayed here twice. The first time, our room was well situated but had a terrible odor (we soon realized the air intake for our room was near an official "dog relief" area). However the resort was fully booked (as it often is), so we had to stay put. More recently, we booked a "deluxe king" room; unfortunately the room we were assigned (which fit all of our requests - spacious, top floor, quiet) was again problematic, inset into a courtyard corner, with direct views into every inch of our room from a busy outdoor walkway only feet away. This was a quirk of the hotel's architecture; it seems we would have been better off not booking a "deluxe" room, as there aren't many on the property. And once again, our room (in the spa courtyard) was directly over a "dog relief" area, complete with a plastic bag dispenser. We love dogs, but no. In short, I'm not sure we'll go rushing back, although the grounds are lovely and again, so are the pool areas (especially the lagoon, which we did not have a chance to use). There's also a kids' pool, and this - together with beach access -- are the major draws of the property. One tip: there's now a good, casual seafood restaurant at the end of the pier in town, with panoramic views of the ocean. Otherwise, I do want to give a shout-out to two front desk people who were enormously kind and helpful on our recent visit. Devyn was incredibly patient and showed us several (smaller but more well-situated) rooms as options. Victor was also very empathetic, and assisted us with an issue upon check-out. Both are a credit to the property.

The elevators broke, there were no signs directing how to get to our room. There were no clearly marked stairwells. It took us 20 minutes to find our room. Then trying to leave our room, the "exit" signs in the hallways POINT TOWARDS EACHOTHER AND NOT AN EXIT!! Again wasted 30 minutes trying to get out.

Beautiful hotel and even better customer service! No complaints, highly recommend. Positives: Beautiful grounds, lots to see and do right on property for families and adults. Great food in the restaurants, the small market on property is helpful. Large clean comfortable rooms, comfortable beds and a variety of pillows. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff all over the property. Well equipped gym Free water bottles for length of stay (may be for status members, I don't know) Only about 3/4 of a mile into the main strip of town to eat and shop, easy walk. Negatives: Shower water pressure was pretty bad, may be a California regulatory thing Not quite on the beach, it's across the street and over a bridge, so you can't hear the waves from the rooms and it's a little of a walk to the beach but not too bad. If they're going to bother to have a game room, perhaps put a few more games in there besides just several claw machines, one air hockey, one pinball, and a racing game.

This property is always great, the staff gives excellent customer service. I will always stay here, when in Huntington Beach.

Great resort with fun pools including water slides. Great onsite dining with numerous options within walking distance. Great access to the beach and downtown. Clean, friendly, and fun. Will always be at the top of our list when visiting Orange County.

This hotel was amazing! The valet was kind, the check in process was very smooth. The room was very clean and the checkout process was seamless!

Incredible property with the most accommodating staff, amenities, and GORGEOUS view of the beach!!!! The food/restaurants at this resort are unbelievable!!!!
