Hampton Terrace Inn

We have stayed at this Inn each summer for more than 10 years. It is a perfect traditional New England inn located in one of the most beautiful towns in Massachusets. Cannot imagine staying anywhere else in the Berkshires.

We had a great stay with Stan at the Hampton Terrace Inn. There was a hot buffet breakfast every day. He was able to accommodate vegan diet but there could me more choices in the future. The rooms and inn itself were clean, full of character and welcoming. Short walk to Lenox and close to Tanglewood and everything the Berkshires have to offer. Highly recommended.

Hampton Terrace Inn is a nice place to stay. Stan is a lovely host and is located on site. Buffet breakfast is varied and can be enjoyed in the main dining room or side porch. The Hampton Terrace Inn is centrally located. One can walk to town for meals. No need to take your car and look for parking. Tanglewood and Shakespeare and Company are right nearby. We interacted with lovely guests at the Inn who were there for the culture as well.

Once again we were grateful to enjoy the wonderful hospitality and great breakfasts at Hampton Terrace Inn. For anyone attending Tanglewood or other Berkshire venues there is no better place to stay. This must have been our tenth visit and each time we were delighted to be there

Beautiful and well-located property. Room and bathroom were spotless and well-appointed. Pool was perfect water temperature and also spotless! Breakfasts were freshly prepared and delicious. Convenient to Tanglewood. Stan is the consummate innkeeper. I would highly recommend this property.

The service was excellent. I traveled to the Inn solo for a concert I was attending at Tanglewood. Stan, the owner, was so knowledgeable about the area, and makes the best gluten-free blueberry pancakes ever! I’m picky about pillows and he brought me a comfy one in very short order. The room was not the most luxurious for the price point, but the bed was very comfortable and fireplace and jetted tub made it worth it. The breakfast buffet was plentiful. The fresh berries and cut fruit were replenished frequently so I never felt like I was getting leftovers. The carriage house I stayed in was behind the main house. I loved the charming ivy covered entryway and ample seating indoor and out where I could sit and read my book in peace. The outdoor pool was very clean and well maintained. Will definitely be back when I visit Tanglewood in the future.

We stayed a few nights at The Hampton Terrace at the beginning of July. From arrival, Stan, the owner, could not have been more hospitable. He gave us recommendations for lunch and dinner, and some suggestions of things to do while in town. He was attentive to any request we had, and we truly felt at home while staying there. Breakfasts and coffee were great, and we loved the touch of getting to visit with Stan each morning as well. Lenox is a lovely, charming town and The Hampton Terrace is the perfect place to settle in and explore. I highly recommend!

My wife Eileen and I made our annual visit to the Hampton Terrace Inn during he first week of July and encountered our usual excellence. As usual, our room was lovely, the nice pool was refreshing, the varied breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and Stan was his usual gracious, appreciative host. The time we spent in Lenox, including the three wonderful concerts at Tanglewood, is one of our most favorite times of the year. The Hampton Terrace Inn never disappoints.

When one thinks of staying in an “Olde Inn with Lots of Character,” this place should come to mind. There are several choices of places to stay in Lenox, and if you’re looking for an authentic experience, this is your place. But know what comes with that choice. Grand old cottages in the Berkshires built in the late 19th century didn’t have central air conditioning, convenient usb charging stations at your bedside, large screen TV’s, and consistency across rooms and bathrooms. Here, every room is different where window unit AC’s can barely keep up on hot muggy days, it takes a few minutes to search out a plug to charge your devices, and if you’re not a smaller person like it seems most were more than 100 years ago, you might find yourself squeezing in sideways in the small claw foot tub trying to take a shower without flooding the cracked hardwood floor and then the dining room below. And how did my rollaboard get all the way over there? Because the floor in my room is slanted! But that’s all part of the charm, right? Perhaps the best part of the Hampton Terrace Inn is the owner, Stan himself. Affable and knowledgeable about anything and everything in the area from history to culture and back, I just want to win the lottery and cut him a check for $2m so he can be done with his “ongoing renovation project.” That said, the pool is fantastic - well maintained and perfect temperature, and the French toast at breakfast IS really that good.
