Hampton Terrace Inn

For the second time in three years we stayed three nights in The Rosalyn Elkan room as part of a two week New England road trip. Lenox is a delightful town and the inn is in a perfect location just minutes from shops and a few (excellent) restaurants on a road that never seemed busy hence our decision to return. Our large room was as we remembered it tucked away behind the main house with a comfortable bed, a useful wet bar with coffee machine and a smallish but perfectly serviceable bathroom. The previous review mentioned old furniture and a lack of replacement items. I'd say a little worn maybe but the sofa was comfortable and there is plenty of room to spread out. Extra coffees, milk etc can be obtained from the living room of the carriage house next door and if there is an issue then Stan can be contacted by text. Breakfast was more than adequate and Stan was always on hand to restock things and give suggestions if needed. It's not a cheap area but the inn offers decent value and I think we would stay there again should we return.

Very friendly welcome in lovely historic Inn. Delicious homecooked breakfast with changing options. The building is nicely maintained and decorated. Despite its age, comforts are up to date. Easy parking on premises.

This inn needs some tender loving care - at least in the annex where we stayed. First the rooms look nothing like the pictures. There is a weird jacuzzi in the main part of the room. The furniture is old and tacky. The accoutrements are minimal and low level products and housekeeping doesn’t replace things as they are used. The room looks and feels like a mid-level motel. The owners have a contactless check in. So the first time we saw the owner was at breakfast. He didn’t acknowledge us other than to explain breakfast and in our three day stay it wasn’t til the last day that he actually spoke to us for more than a couple of minutes. We don’t need a lot of tender loving care but we do expect some kind of engagement in this type of setting. On the other hand the inn is extremely well located - an easy walk into town and close by car to other sights. The owner has a wonderful guide to everything and has even created a very interesting and well researched drive to the gilded age mansions. So this inn has great potential. It just needs some care and attention.

This is an excellent inn just a four or five minutes walk from the centre of Lenox. Stan, who owns it with his wife, has created a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We stayed in the Marion Slocomb Suite in the cottages to the rear of the hotel. This was extremely spacious with a lovely corner whirlpool bath, aircon and gas fire. It also had a small patio with two chairs which caught the afternoon sun. Breakfast is served in the main house. We were presented with a different option, cooked by Stan, on each of the three mornings we were there. The room also has a very useful guide to restaurants and local activities including a tour of gilded age homes put together by Stan. I would recommend Hampton Terrace very highly to anyone visiting this area.

The 5 Star Location to Town Square Old Lennox. The owner Stan is such a perfect innkeeper and quality person. His past life in the music industry was such an enjoyment and so refreshing. Lastly the breakfast array of libations.. second to none.. My wife and I have travelled to Lennox multiple times over the past 20 years staying in a multitude of B& B’s and 5 Star Resorts…. Stan ( owner 27 years) and his product The Hampton Terrace Inn …. Leaves all of the past experiences a distant second. Rob & Bonny

We stayed at the Hampton Terrace Inn for three nights with ten other couples while cycling in the area. Stan and his wife prepared wonderful breakfasts and my wife and I felt right at home anytime, anywhere on the property. Our room in the rear guest house was roomy with a small sitting area, working gas fireplace, kitchenette, front patio and jacuzzi tub. Perfectly quiet and comfortable. Sadly, the swimming pool closed for the season the day we arrived because it looked mighty inviting after our hilly bicycle rides. The Inn is a short and safe walk to the heart of Lenox where art galleries and gourmet food await. We highly recommend the Hampton Terrace Inn.
