Antica Locanda

What a charming little hotel in a fairytale hill town in Tuscany. The owner was a delightful lady who couldn't do enough to be more welcoming. Don't expect the comforts of a 5 star hotel. You come here for the charm of an attic room with exposed beams and leaning ceilings that follow the roof line, and the wonderful views of lush rolling Tuscan hills when you open the window.

Really enjoyed my stay at Antica Locanda. Great location within the old town of Pienza. Very peaceful and quiet. Only 5 minutes away from free parking down. The host was a character, very bubbly and helpful, relaying all the important information for our stay. Despite having limited English we managed to communicate with a mixture of basic Italian and French. Breakfast is a basic DIY offering which you make up yourself in the room which has tea/coffee making facilities with some basic provisions provided. Comfortable room and had a good night's sleep here. Would stay again.

I cried when I first saw the views from our windows. Spacious, kitchen ready for making breakfast. Staff was accommodating. We fell in love with the lady of the house. Can't say enough good things about this place.

location is excellent for a stay in Pienza. do not take heavy luggage. lots of stairs to climb to get to the rooms. plan on haveing breakfast out, although the instant coffee in the room is great to get going with.

It is a very nice place. The owner is very nice but she does not speak English. The town is small and great

We had 2 rooms on the top floor overlooking the valley, fabulous - although 1 room was permanently hot with very poor air-conditioning. However, the biggest disappointment was the so-called continental breakfast. What was supplied was very inadequate - dried crisp-bread and cakes and very little else - not what we would expect for a continental breakfast! Having said all of that, the owner is delightful and she made our stay overall a pleasure.

Great location and lovely old rooms right in the centre of town BUT breakfast useless, lots of steep stairs, aircon not connected and probably had to be paid for and very noisy room.

I booked the room through hotels.com on the iPhone app and arrived but had to pay the owner again in Euros. I thought this was just becuase my CC had been used to 'book' the room - on returning back home I found that I had paid TWICE and the owner of the B&B should be aware of this. What follwed was a fairly complex refund issue where the owner of the B&B spoke no English and was unable to corroborate my 2nd payment....all a bit messy really.However that apart the location of the apartment is very good....maybe too many stairs for some people and you need to make sure that you are not bothered with stairs. Also dont expect a fancy schmancy breakfast here at this place as its basically a dry roll and a coffee maker in your room.....were this issue of the shabby breakfast sorted I would return here again

We really enjoyed our stay at Antica Locanda. Barbara was very helpful throughout the stay, the B&B is very well located inside the historic area of Pienza and has excellent character. The room was large and characterful with excellent bathroom facilities. The breakfast is basic but sufficient and we felt the hotel was good value for money. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend Antica Locanda highly.

We had a lovely double en-suite room with a view up the main street of Pienza. The room had old beams and lovely old furniture but a modern bathroom with bidet etc. Breakfast was 'self service' in the room - which suited us as we could have it when we wanted - also could have an expresso anytime. There was a 'mini fridge' in the bathroom to keep food cool. Very pleasant place to stay at a reasonable price. Free parking available close by. Would definitley r4ecommend.
