Mitsis Royal Mare

I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt this hotel deserved one. Overall, our stay was excellent. The food, cleanliness, drinks, and service throughout the hotel were all of a very high standard. A special mention goes to the Delfinia Pool Bar staff, especially Maria, who was fantastic and kept us topped up with drinks all day long. Her friendly service really added to our holiday. The food was far higher quality than I’ve previously experienced at all-inclusive resorts. From the buffet and à la carte restaurants to the grab-and-go options, everything was fresh, varied, and enjoyable. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and came with a well-stocked minibar. The only downside for us was the lack of plug sockets near the bed, which was a little inconvenient. The one negative aspect of our stay was the hotel photographer. He was very friendly and chatty at first and offered what was presented as a free photo shoot with a photos available to buy at €13 euro each along with packages. However, this turned into a 45-minute session with hundreds of photos taken, followed by a sales presentation with packages priced between €400 and €600. When we declined, he became quite pushy and noticeably less friendly. I completely understand that photographers often work on commission and need to make a living, but if the pricing had been made clear from the beginning, we wouldn’t have taken part and wouldn’t have wasted anyone’s time. Unfortunately, it left us feeling a little uncomfortable for the remainder of our stay whenever we walked past the photography desk. Despite this, this was by far the best all-inclusive experience I’ve ever had, and I would happily return to a Mitsis hotel in the future, whether it’s this one or another in the group. Highly recommended.

The staff was incredible. I especially loved Maria who was so great and friendly. Staff at the Asian restaurant were also fantastic. Loved the ladies at the mini mart too including Marina. Honestly this was one of the best weeks on vacation ever!

This is a superb resort. We booked as a group of nine friends to celebrate our special birthdays and received a first class experience. The rooms were always clean and well-stocked, the restaurants and food excellent, and the entertainment - particularly the daytime pool activities - great fun. However there was one member of staff who went above and beyond to help make our stay extra special. Maria at the Delphinia pool bar was the most friendly, attentive and wonderful lady; our trip would not have been the same without her. Thank you Maria.

What an absolute delight! From the moment of alighting the transfer coach and being greeted and pampered, to the point of boarding said transfer coach a week later we were made to feel like Royalty; and genuinely nothing was too much trouble for the incredible team at Mitsis Royal Mare. The facilities are second to none, the staff are nothing short of awesome, and the food… oh my goodness, the food. Having never previously visited Crete, I couldn’t appreciate how the location fitted into the overall map of the island but the position is great; we hired a car for a day out to visit Knossos Palace and drive into the mountains, and found it to be incredibly easy. Our room was spacious and perfect. Our bathroom was exceptionally clean and well presented, and kept that way by the daily service. Plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space so that one can properly unpack and relax. As the evening approaches and other guests head to their rooms, the most zen-like calm seems to gently wash over the hotel and grounds. You could easily wander around the grounds for ages, enjoying the calm ambience and the friendly (and well cared for) cats that freely enjoy the space. Very good quality towels provided for pool and gym use that are plentifully available. If you get the chance to use the spa, whilst not cheap, I would recommend it. We celebrated my birthday whilst there, and I was fantastically spoilt with a beautiful cake and bubbly delivered to the room. This really was an absolute gem of a find, and definitely only our first of hopefully many stays with Mitsis; they really do put the service into customer service.

Herson was absolutely brilliant, so attentive and helpful. Main bar has an incredible view and such friendly staff! Some of the food is a little below 5 star but would recommend 100%. Rooms are beautiful and cleanliness is 10/10.
