Having read most of the reviews on the hotel prior to booking, I wanted to write my own which not only dispels some of the factually incorrect information, but also provides answers to questions I had.
We are a family of 4, 2 adults and two children aged 7 and 2.
Arrival, whatever time, is seamless.
We arrived in the early hours from the airport and were immediately greeted by friendly staff, who were very attentive.
At reception, check in staff issued us with our wristbands, these are made from strong soft ribbon, with a plastic clip. My husband and I were given white with my son given a blue one and daughter was given a bright pink one, both were very happy with their new accessory. These wrist bands allow you to be easily identified as a hotel guest.
Our suitcases were then taken to our room, and we were taken down to our room in one of the golf buggies. These golf buggies are driven by hotel staff ( our driver Vincent was lovely and gave us a quick tour of the resort on our way to our room at Dimitra 5 which was right by the sea)
We were offered food upon arrival, and informed that the buffet was open for late night snacks, hot and cold, until 3am where it shuts for 1 hour and is re-opened at 4am.
Our room was lovely and clean, with a bowl of fruit as well as some complimentary bamboo straws as a welcome gift.
Also within the room were beach towels, toiletries, which included tooth brushes, shaving kits, a vanity kit which included a hairband! Absolutely nothing was left out!!
There was a complimentary bottle of Raki, 2x traditional Greek sweet jars with cherries and a bottle of red wine.
The fridge was stocked with cans of coke, sprite, lemon Fanta, orange Fanta, bottle of beer and carbonated water. An nespresso machine is available in the room with 4 pods which are topped up daily if used, as well as coffee, tea ( herbal included) and you also get 2 large bottles of water.
The Mini fridge is refilled every second day of your trip, you are given plenty of towels, beach towels as well as bathrobes and complimentary slippers.
Our room had a master bedroom, a living area with a pull down sofa bed. My kids happily shared this bed, but I believe you can maybe request a travel cot, but we didn’t bother.
The room had 2 patio doors which led to the shared pool. You get your own section to enjoy, and our room was nearby a larger pool for guests to use. The doors have a multi-angle handle, so pull down to lock, pull horizontal to open fully and pull up to open top only. As a parent I was a bit worried about how to keep them secure with the kids, but it would have to be a pretty strong toddler for them to be able to open it themselves and the hotel have put an extra feature on the doors by way of a hook that you can put on, so even if a kid did get the handle up, this sturdy hook prevents them from being able to open it.
On our visit ( last week in April) the weather for the most part was lovely, although we had a few windy/cloudy days near the end.
With this in mind, the shared pool was cold, but this is to be expected with it not being full summer yet. Due to this the kids didn’t really like to go in, but there is a heated pool at the Thalasso Spa which the kids loved.
You can take inflatables on holiday with you for the pool, but there is a kiosk where you can buy every inflatable imaginable.
Prior to arrival we had booked our restaurants. This is done through the Mitsis app or website.
I would recommend downloading the app as you can do concierge requests through it.
Make sure you book your restaurants prior to your holiday.
For the kids:
There is a wooden pirate ship playground within the massive area where kids can Play. There are sun loungers surrounding the kids pool, which has lots of different interactive water spray equipment.
There are swings, access to footballs, basket balls, toddler basketball hoops etc.
they have a program for the kids which runs 7 days. The kids program has lots of different activities, some are Greek themed, which is fab, however please note this is not a drop your kid off service. Parents must stay.
There is a small amusement arcade at the main building, which you buy tokens for.
There are ticket winning machines, but I think some were out of tickets, but the kids enjoyed playing the games regardless.
There is a pool table and a few table tennis tables.
We didn’t take part in the tennis courts and whilst we went up to the little mini golf, we couldn’t find where to get rackets and gold clubs etc( to be fair we didn’t ask, but I’m sure if we did it would have been easy to find!)
There’s a few shops on site, clothing, jewellery and a convenience shop. This shop has everything that you may have forgotten to bring with you as well as gifts and souvenirs.
They have a great selection of kids toys.
The food throughout the entire complex is amazing.
Everything is cooked well, and the selection is immense!!
All of the restaurants have lovely staff working within. We honestly have zero complaints about the food.
There are options of waffles and gelato, whilst service is a little slow, this is due to everything being made fresh, I can’t complain though, the waffles were amazing too!
Thing to remember is your on holiday. You’re not in a rush, so chill out!
We had an absolutely amazing time on our holiday, which was made even more amazing by lovely surprise of the grandparents Turing up to join us on day 2.
It was my father in laws birthday half way through the holiday and I asked staff where I could purchase a cake for him. Guest services went above and beyond, they asked what room number, what day and confirmed a time we would like a cake. The day of his birthday, an amazing cake arrived, complete with a bottle of sparkly for him. I cannot thank the staff enough for making it a memorable birthday.
A day or so before checkout we approached the reception to request a late checkout and this was accommodated, which meant we had full use of our room until our transport to the airport arrived.
Staff attended at our room and uplifted our suitcases and dropped them off at reception.
I truly do not have any complaints about our holiday.
The staff were so lovely and they always made a point of interacting with the kids.
We are already booked and paid to attend this year again with the kids, and I’m sure we will have an equally amazing time ❤️
