H10 Estepona Palace

My wife and I booked this hotel through Tui and opted for a Privilege room because it had a full sea view. Our Privilege room lived up to our expectations with modern facilities and wonderful views extending over to Gibraltar and North Africa. However the Privilege title came with much more,including a special lounge with free refreshments, a private sundeck again with refreshments and the option to have breakfast in the a la Carte restaurant. You also have your own Privilege check in desk where we were greeted by Diana who was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We can't agree with some comments that the hotel is in need of refurbishment as we found it quite impressive, clean and as it's name implies "palacial". The pool and garden area is kept clean and well tended and there are floral displays throughout. If there was one negative it was with the food at dinner which was not the best that we have experienced. Saying that, there was adequate choice and a good freshly cooked meat and fish area. In summary you won't starve! As previously stated we were able to opt for breakfast in the a la Carte restaurant (Thalassa) which was a lovely setting. However this closed at 7pm and it would have have made a really good alternative for later dining. At previous hotels we have stayed at we have been given the opportunity to dine at least once during our stay in an a la Carte restaurant and we think this a missed opportunity by the hotel. Therefore our dining experience is the reason we have given 4 and not 5 stars. Overall however, an extremely enjoyable holiday.

Writing this on out final day. We stayed in room 567, a spacious room with big balcony and a gorgeous view. The staff were friendly & our room was provided daily with bottles of water and chocolates. Food was lovely, we never had a bad meal. I particularly liked the chicken breast served at dinner & the soya bread served at breakfast was always tasty. I really liked the added touch of getting to watch the chefs prepare some of the food. I also loved the non alcoholic Strawberry Colada that was served in the lobby bar. Overall, we had an amazing experience, and I'm personally sad to be leaving!

Facilities and location were good.

Couldn't pay with cash or cards during stay so had to charge to room. Staff promised to keep account open on last day. They didn't, instead just charged card assuming we'd left (even though our cases were in their lock up). On arriving home noticed they'd charged the card twice. On bringing this to their attention they asked for a copy of our bank statement as proof ( even though they had card details). They eventually paid the money back, without any apology. The food in the poolside cafe was very poor.

Ehrlich gesagt nichts- es ist ein in die Jahre gekommenes riesiges Hotel, dass schon sehr lange keine Renovierung gesehen hat- vielleicht war es in den 2003 mal ein Palace, davon ist leider nichts mehr übrig.

Die „renovierten“ Familienzimmer, waren nicht renoviert; der Poolbereich, der ab 1800 mit komischen Gattern versehen wird, dass man nicht mehr baden darf (obwohl 10-19); der Strand, der nicht für die Gäste bereit war; die dreckigen Plastikliegestühle; die dreckigen Teppiche und durchgesessen Sofas in den Gängen; das Essen, dass bestenfalls ok/gut war; sehr viel unfreundliches und frustriertes Personal; das essen ohne spuck/nies schutz.

Found glass in a food when having a pizza at the pool bar I bit into it , relised it was sharp a peice green glass was inside it , costumer service came asked if we would like more food naturally we declined. We asked to see the manager she looked embarrassed and said he probably won’t see you I said ok I contact head office this should be an incident for your business there’s lots of children eating these pizza she just said I know . The place is tired the staff are sadly flogged to death it’s quite upsetting to see , we were taking our glasses back to the bar to help and our plates to the middle station I spoke to a lot of staff they said the new manager has cut the work force over half in the last year but they need the job , it’s clearly compromising the staffs well being and the standard of the hotel , food was cold and same each night , your out of it in location no bars near by a 20 mins walk to the nearest one . Pillows like bags cotton wool towels shabby grey we def won’t be back they have amazing air b& b near by far superior good luck

We’d booked here as we were attending a wedding nearby. It wasn’t a hotel or location we would have chosen otherwise. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised but sadly that wasn’t the case. The lady checking us in was lovely. But apart from her the rest of the staff were not very welcoming or friendly at all. Service really wasn’t great. Food was awful. Probably the worst I’ve had in over 15 years! It was edible but not the best. Not very fresh, cheap, lots of tinned items, veg/ fruit etc. no fresh coffee in a morning. Had to use machines. Birds flying in & sitting on food. The kids struggled as even the plain spaghetti had been sat under lamps so long it was hard & crispy, no pizzas etc. kids veggies were either from a tin, or covered in batter! Not healthy! You can’t order or take food round the pool from the snack bar. Had toasties, fries & chicken wings there one day & was awful. Main pool is only open 11-5! Which I find really bizarre. We were there May half term, hotel was busy, no empty loungers, baking hot sun & you can’t dip in the pool to cool off unless you walk round to the smaller pool that opens at 10. They put barriers/ gates round every evening so you can’t go in. We asked the lifeguard at 5.10 one day why she was putting barriers up & her reply was ‘this pool shuts at 6pm!’ It doesn’t take 50mins to put a fence up! It takes about 10mins. I think they just do it early so they can leave as soon as they finish. Wouldn’t have booked here if we knew the pool had such short opening times. Room, we booked an ocean junior suite (the most expensive room) and although the room itself was good. Recently refurbished, the balcony & sea view was not what we were expecting. The balcony was in the dark all day due to design of the hotel. It got no sun at all & the sea view was a snippet of the sea in the distance.. not what you’d expect for a premium room at all. (See pics) the standard rooms looked to have a much better view! The shower was the worst. It would constantly turn boiling hot or freezing cold & not hold a steady temperature. Hairdryer is useless. One of the on the wall ones that’s barely any power,so ladies take note. On our 2nd to last day we arrived back at our room & wondered what had gone on. The carpet outside was filthy, covered in bits of plaster, dust & water. Someone had been doing some work & left an awful mess. The next day as we were leaving it was still there! But now walked and trodden in making it even worse! Maids must have walked past multiple times & not bothered to hoover or clean it up! We usually holiday in Greece or Portugal where the locals & staff are super friendly, cheery, wish you good morning/ evening, go out of thier was to ensure you have a nice holiday. I won’t be returning to this hotel, or the Costa del sol.

I feel so strongly about he H10 estepona Palace, that needed to write a review We are still on holiday here till 4th June in room 263. We love our holidays and save up to come away. On our arrival we could see the Hotel needed a full revamp regarding the flooring in the indoor eating area, it looks so poor. The food isnt up to standard either. Also over the next day or so we could see there wasnt enough staff to give you the welcome and service you would expect. Almost one hour to order food in the pool bar Monday 2nd June. To top it all we had an item gone missing from the room. On contacting reception, they didnt really want to know, asked head of house keeping to contact us, still waiting for an answer on that, which shows there isnt enough staff to run the hotel as it should be run. I dont like leaving poor reviews but im sure if the staff here were to read this review, they would understand why i left it. Would not return, im so sorry.

Absolutely wonderful holiday with my family especially 89 year old mother. The Hotel staff are so kind always smiling & helpful. Very hard working. The Hotel layout was very good with reception area & bars on the floor leading from the entrance & pool & restaurants on the lower floor. There are 5 lifts. The pool itself is amazing it really is stunning. 1 adult pool 1 for youngsters & great for water activities. Also a toddler pool. Plenty of sunbeds towels etc. All supervised by pool staff. There’s also a snack restaurant by the pool & the food is very good. Water filters in various locations which is ideal to fill your water containers. There’s archery darts & lots of activities for the kids. Tito the activity coordinator is amazing with organising the fun & activities. The beach is a mix of shale & sand which isn’t very pleasant but that’s the nature of this cove. But 5 minutes walk is the Blue Flag Cristo Beach which is stunning. I just wish who ever maintains the beach would sort out H10 beach because it would be perfect for the Hotel. Food is amazing fantastic choice quality is first class & we usually holiday on Royal Caribbean cruise for the last 7 years & this chef is first class. The room & walk in shower was great. Room service & cleaner was absolutely perfect. I have written lots of reviews for places that deserve my time. H10 Estepona Palace is one hotel I will definitely recommend & re-visit, also try H10 group in other locations. Thankyou to all the staff who made the Mason Holiday Perfect.
