Pousada do Marvão - Charming Hotel

What an exceptional spot! Marvao is incredible. The pousada is in a perfect location, and overlooking the plains below, it has a fabulous view. Our room, although small, was quite commodious and had historic traditional Portuguese furniture. Our dinner and breakfast were most enjoyable, although the dinner was not “gourmet”. Would we stay there again? Absolutely.

Lovely hotel, very centrally located. We were really comfortable here; the views are gorgeous and there is an ambience of peace and old world gentility. and yet very much in the centre of this ancient citadel. We didnt eat at the hotel but recived excellent recommendations from the concierge. Loved it!

We counted up and realized we’ve stayed at 6 Pousadas over the years and this was our favorite. We think staying at Pousadas connects us more with the true Portugal at a very reasonable cost. Our suite at the Pousada de Santa Maria had a balcony and definitely worth the few extra Euros. After the warm days of touring the region, the shade came over the building about 4pm so we spent the afternoons sipping a cocktail and relaxing into the cooling evening breeze. The room was a very clean and it seemed as if the furnishings had been recently updated. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom clean and functional. The whole stay has truly been relaxing as you can get. Marvao is great place to spend a night or 2, wandering around the cobbled village streets. It’s calm and peaceful with views that go on forever. The restaurants in the town offer a good meal at a reasonable price. We had a wonderful meal at the hotel’s restaurant, Ninho D’aguias. The waiter was very helpful with wine selections and the chef even stopped by the table to explain the sourcing of the food. Try the black pork and octopus!

From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by Jorge & the team. Such nice, friendly & helpful people. An amazing location with stunning views. The restaurant looked very nice, but we only had breakfast there. Sure we’ll try it next time. Yes - we will definitely be back! Thank you for looking after us and our birthday-celebrating friend so well!

Local agradável. Como é habitual em Portugal tem preocupação zero com excesso de açúcar!(aqui foi apenas o açúcar, em outros locais é o sal- vilão N.1).

Magical place, will never forget it. Attended the marvao music festival, an experience I will cherish forever. The hotel was charming, and with amazing views. There is nowhere else like this place, truly unique. Stayed in July 2022, during a heatwave. Stayed three nights, could have stayed for the week. Incredible.

Die Pousada liegt auf einem Berg mit phantastischer Aussicht auf die Umgebung. Die Anfahrt ist sehr abenteuerlich durch sehr enge Gassen, notfalls hilft aber das Hotel. Unser Zimmer war gut eingerichtet, bequeme Betten. Vom Restaurant und der Bar laesst sich der Ausblick sehr gut geniessen. Essen ist gut. Sehr gut ist der Service im Hotel, alle sind sehr freundlich und Hilfsbereit

Traumlage im Herzen von must-see-Marvão. Sehr freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Service. Wunderbare Aussicht im Speisezimmer und auf der Terrasse. Nicht alle Zimmer habe Aussicht und die engen Gassen sind für ungeübte Autofahrer mit grossen Autos eine Herausforderung. Fazit: Unbedingt einen Besuch wert!
