Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa Resort Hotel

1 out of 5. We booked this place for a week on a half-board basis. Had a late check-in, and by the time we arrived the restaurant was already closed. Reception suggested we buy sandwiches from the bar downstairs instead. Unfortunately, the club sandwich was inedible, the chicken was like chewing gum, and the egg was missing altogether. The room itself looked very tired, and there were cockroaches in the bathroom. The worst part, however, was the old spring mattress. It felt like sleeping on a saggy old mattress and left both of us with severe back pain by the end of the trip. The staff were also quite rude. During dinner, staff would spray cleaner on adjoining tables while guests were still eating. On another occasion, one employee showed attitude when asked to refill an empty fruit tray. I would seriously recommend giving this place a miss.

Location was excellent and facilities good. Indoor swimming pool was lovely.

Only stayed 2 nights, despite putting option on door to clean room while we were out, this did not happen and they arrived when we were in the room getting ready for the evening. Very little signage for the indoor pool, you have to walk through reception to get to the pool and walk back to go to sauna and steam room.

Studio apt was spacious and clean. Good size balcony. Great walk-in shower with toiletries. Good to have a fridge, microwave, hob etc. Requested a kettle and was delivered straightaway. Lovely pool area and free pool towels a bonus. Good facilities for all ages. Easy on-site free parking a bonus. Great location with good variety of restaurants within an easy walk.

So I booked a twin room as sharing with my daughter. When we checked into the room I was surprised to see a kitchen area next to the bed it was a very dingy grubby, old fashioned kitchen as well , so I rang reception and asked to move rooms as the one I had booked on the picture didn't show a kitchen. We checked into a normal twin room it was average and also smelt VERY musty. I would say that this IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL. We had an average stay. The breakfast was lovely so can't fault that there was plenty of food and drinks available. We are disappointed in the evening meals as there were no drinks available you had to buy them eve water. We only had one bottle of complementary water in the room on arrival, so was surprised as I thought we would get a new bottle daily. Service at the pool area was very slow not enough staff and waited 45 mins for 2 portions of chips and had to go and remind them, staff not that friendly as seemed stressed. The service in the main bar area again very slow, not enough staff and staff members seemed very stressed I dread to think what its like in peak season!! The pool area was dirty I watched a couple spill some drinks and we sat there the next day to find the floor sticky with the drink that had not been cleaned up and the tables were filthy and sticky and had not been cleaned for some time. Our belongings ended up all grubby and sticky. To Summerise - A Very old fashioned dingy and musty room, poor service. The only good thing about his hotel is the location. If you are looking for a 4 star hotel then this is not it.
