Overpriced and not the best food, it was ok, but I would’ve expected better quality food

My husband and I road trip through Gallup NM from time to time. This was our third stay at The El Rancho Hotel. It's an easy stop off the hwy, a fun and cute place to stay. Love the history and Hollywood connections. We've felt welcomed and comfortable each time. Our pup gets the same vibes. Always a bonus with us. Great gift shop, restaurant and history tavern on site too!

Great experience. Everyone was very professional and so helpful. We ended up staying 2 nights because we enjoyed it so much.

It was clean

They scam you. The listing was for the HOTEL NOT THE MOTEL!!!! We arrived late and they stuck us in their “annex” which was a run down motel that they slapped some paint on and littered it in Hobby Lobby junk. It was clean but I could hear the neighbor hock a loogie next door for 20 minutes, the police station is behind it so you heard sirens all night too. We also heard what we thought was a moped but it was the heating system, that didn’t work at all. Our room stayed at 60 degrees all night even with the heat on 80! It just blew cold air. There was also a ton of homeless camping out front of our room all night and begging every time we left our room. I mentioned the heat and homeless to the front desk in the morning and she didn’t say anything, didn’t even acknowledge it. Not even an apology. Service in the restaurant is slow. All in all it was a pitiful experience. Don’t waste your money. There are better motels for $100 if that’s what you’re after.

Such a fun stop for my mom and I. The atmosphere in the main lobby was epic. The restaurant and bar atmosphere felt a little sterile and cafeteria to me. All in all the vibe was solid but did feel a little hectic. The room was charming but I was a little thrown off with the style of toilet in the space. I felt like I was in a public bathroom. The location was definitely uncomfortable. I wanted to take an evening stroll but there was nothing to see and the homeless population felt very intimidating. If you are staying here I’d stick to the property. The food at the restaurant was okay, but the menu was exciting. Also, the drinks felt like they were focused on weak pours and sugary solutions. They did taste good, but heavy on the simple syrup. Also the 4 drink max thing feels very strange, like my mom is in charge. I totally get it that there might have been some over serving in the past and some people probably did stupid stuff. Both the restaurant and bar lacked the rustic charm of the hotel. The value could to quality did not feel quite equal, but you are paying for the history and the story.
