Vila Gale Cascais Hotel & Resort

The outside pool and bar and the restaurant are fine. And the neighborhood is awesome. The rooms are old, smell bad and there are cockroaches all over the place. We will never come back there.

Location is amazing with proximity to restaurants, town center, marina and beautiful scenic views. The hotel, although clean is dated, had no room service during 3 night stay, had to find staff to restock on toiletries which are no many, no iron in room. Water charges twice what they are in small shops, breakfast food not very good, saw some canned peaches and fruit salad at breakfast. Generally the staff was not at all friendly with the exception of maybe two restaurant workers. Next time I will find another hotel in that location.

We had a lovely stay. The check in and out was efficient and friendly. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly in the bar (Bruno & colleague) and the pool bar. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. The pool area is great, lots of space and whether it was because we were here in July no trouble getting a sun bed and no one seemed to rush to put their towels out early - a huge plus!! Good system with supplying beach towels too. Couple of minutes walk to the marina and approx 10 mins to lovely beach and the town, restaurants etc. Also easy journey to Lisbon by train.

The property is okd, tired. Room furniture is old. It was super crowded. Breakfast was a very, very full everyday.

Old carpet/curtains reeked of smoke, no TV connection, phones did not work, windows very dirty. mini kitchen in bad shape.

Staff are hotel’s greatest asset. Breakfast selection is excellent. Coffee is either stewed filter or from a Nescafé machine-not good enough. Bar serves a delicious white wine. Lunch menu is healthy and more-ish! You do need to use a QR code! Rooms are ok but bathrooms need more toiletries. Beds are comfy. Reception needs better organisation and more staff at peak check in, check out times. Staff were very helpful and looked after my wheelchair! It’s a good hotel and the pools are fine. When we were there the children were fairly quiet (!) Beach towels are well organised. Hotel is in walking distance of the Marina and the town.

Lovely hotel, could maybe do with some updating. No tea & coffee facilities in room. Pool bar a bit chaotic when busy, needs a system in place. Great location, lovely views. Breakfast was fine.

The good: Great location with sea views, a 10 minute walk from the centre of Cascais with a new Marina shopping and entertainment area just 2 minutes walk across the street. The location is stunning and really convenient. The room was a very good size with a balcony looking out onto the ocean. Could be better: Breakfast options were okay but a little limited, something they could easily remedy by adding a bit more variety. Likewise room service options (essential when you have a baby and need to stay in evenings) , could be better but not the end of the world as you can use food delivery apps or get something from the marina (2 mins away ) or town (10 mins away) on foot. Not enough easily accessible plugs or lighting in rooms! Cleaning was not always the best at times- nothing major but the staff seem too busy and sometimes miss something like emptying the bins. Otherwise we’ll cleaned. All in all an excellent location and definitely worth considering despite the ‘could be betters’ , which don’t really detract from what is a great location.
