Blue Horizon Hotel

Overall the hotel was fine, the food was good, the areas were clean, towels were changed daily and the staff were very helpful. If you are a budding windsurfer then this is a good place to learn. Experts are equally at home here and you will see many of them during your stay. However what was disappointing was they did not provide pack lunches for full board customers. If you do intend going out on excursions daily, then only opt for half board. That said, feedback from other guests stated the local restaurants were good and value for money so you may wish to have breakfast only and use them. The hotel charge guests to use their own sun beds outside of the pool area, which again was disappointing for a full board customer. On a good note, Do use the local bus service to get to Rodos town, E2.20 one way and it takes approx 20 minutes. I hired a scooter, which saved me a lot of money as I visited most of the attractions on it, take your time through built up areas and you will be fine. Outside built up areas, not much traffic so you can move along quite quickly within the speed limits. Do take insect repellent and after bite spay, you will be stung otherwise by mozzies on your balcony and around the pool area. Crickets are a constant noise, however you do get use to them. Finally the hotel sits under the flight path of planes landing at the airport which is very close, again you get use to it.

All around good place to stay

Served a purpose for us. Well run hotel. Excellent and friendly staff. Our bungalow was ideally placed within the complex. Costs very fair. Be aware that the convenience for the airport carries with it the distraction of being under the flight path with airliners passing only about 1,000 ft above your head; you kind of get used to it ?

The pool is excellent. Nice staff at beach club/pool bar. Beach is fine, with stones and windy in afternoon (best for surfers!). Nice sunset! Service at breakfast and dinner may be improved. No great choice of food (especially if travel with kids). No Greek food available! Better try outside of hotel. Overall: hotel may be considered as having 3 stars (plus), not 4 stars... Old hotel, needed improvements... No proper cleaning into the room during 3 days travel, only changing beds and towells. Not provided shower gel and soap everyday, only at the begining... Position of hotel: 15minutes walk from main road where buses from airport and Rhodos city are travelling (bad service for bus!). From airport pay 2.6 Euros then walk 15 minutes or 10-15 Euros by taxi. From hotel to Rhodos port (i.e. ferry to Turkey) costs some 15-18 euros by taxi (promptly ordered from reception desk).

Last year we stayed at the hotel in one of the bungalows and enjoyed it so much we went back this year with the kids, again in bungalows. With the breakfast and evening meals included this worked out very well indeed with my two hungry offspring able to eat their fill. It is difficult to fault the food with reasonable choice and as much as you could manage. A special word also about the staff who are very helpful, cheerful and hard working. The pool is large enough to cater for all and the beach bar is ideally situated and reasonably priced. As a windsurfer the hotel could not be better placed for access to the 2 rental centres. We will be going back next year!

Good buffet breakfast and dinner. Excellent, helpful staff. Overall, enjoyed week's stay and would go back. Appreciated use of shower rooms after check out time from room. Room cleaned and fresh towels every day.

Lovely clean, airy, no hussel and bussel hotel. Staff all very polite and helpful. Perfect location. Rooms cleaned every day. Breakfast superb, something for everyone. Just needed tea/coffee making in room.

We stayed in one of the bungalows overlooking the beach and the sea. Couldn't have picked a better location. Sun beds available (3euro per day) either on the beach or on the grassy lawn behind with a beach bar behind which was very reasonably priced considering location. As a windsurfer I had direct acess to the very well equipped centre whilst my non-windsurfing partner could chill out right next door.

Pretty nice sunsit view room!! can hear and see the flights pass above the hotel every 15 mins, and we got a bottle of wine for free from the hotel. The breakfast and dinner are many choices, good food and good coffee. We like them.

Great service, food, conditions. The only remarks - Clean the pool every day and give more soaps to the rooms, other than that - great hotel.
