Blue Horizon Hotel

This hotel was a solid 3 star, not 4 star. It was clean, comfortable, had a good range of facilities and the staff were very good. Our main gripe was that it was marketed as near to a Kitesurfing centre ( the main purpose of our trip) but was actually 10 mins by taxi. It is probably best if you have kids or are a mature couple. If you want glamour and luxury, this probably isn't the hotel for you. Perhaps choose a hotel in Ialyssos village or Rhodes Town. All in all we were fairly pleased 'though.

We liked this Hotel. It was close to the beach, the animation team were good, there were many activities to do (table tennis, tennis, windsurfing, boccia, water gymnastics, zumba, beach volleyball), there was a large pool and the staff was nice. Some things were not so good, such as: waiters in the restaurant was incredibly rude, it was a bit noisy from all the planes and the rooms were not up to date.

Externals: number of parking spaces in the front, well maintained garden in the back, good size pool, the hotel itself needs a bit of paint externally (currently washed blue). Bungalows are a bit cramped in between the hotel and beach, so you won’t have great sense of space and privacy, if you decide to book a bungalow. Room: very clean. Each room is equipped with TV (don’t expect to see a flat screen, what you will get is old CRT type only) and fridge. Bathroom accessories (bath, WC) a bit outdated as well as lighting (flickering long tube fitting). Food: ok, but nothing more. Serving times not the best as well: breakfast between 07.00- 09.45, dinner from 19.00. In my opinion the main problem is a very small choice of food. Greek dishes are limited only to feta cheese. If your flight back is early in the morning (i.e. before the breakfast starts), don’t expect to get any packaged sandwiches/ food, what you will be offered is some cookies. Staff: mostly friendly, but as always there is 1 or 2 unpleasant- rude people amongst all the other. You are for example expected to know all the rules (re: paying for drinks in restaurant), but no one is explaining them to you first. Day and evening activities (animation programme): very poor. During the day all you will get is loud music and some pool aerobics, in the evening karaoke or some sort of quiz.

My son, daughter, Mother in Law and my self were bitten so badly by bed bugs. Horrible, cheap sheets and the next day we were just covered. its a shame because the staff were lovely and friendly, the food so so but the room was terrible. maybe it was just our bad luck but we will NEVER go back.

We loved it. The views and the beach were beautiful. The buffet for breakfast and dinner were good. The nighly entertainment was nice. If you rent a car, however, it is probably better to rent it from around the hotel or from the ariport because there are more choices. The taxi costs ~15 euros airport-hotel. The only agency at the hotel has a weird way of charging of "1 day" (1 day is considered, for example, 1 pm or 2 pm if you start renting in the afternoon-10 or 11 pm that same day, not a "24-hour day"/1pm-1pm next day).

We had a lovely room with a balcony, looking over the gardens, the sea, and looking out to the Turkish mountains. The hotel staff were friendly, and the food was good. There was everything you could wish for at breakfast, and dinner was composed of a good variety of hot meals, lots of vegetables and salads. There werte some nice restaurants in the area, including The welcome House down the road, and the beach was a short walk through the garden. The beautiful Rhodes town is a bus ride away and about a 15 minute walk to the bus stop. A place we would definitely visit again, a most relaxing holiday.

Only one negative think : too many planes fly over the hotel and it's very noisy.

Only problem i had with this whole hotel was the fact that the floor in our room was never swept even once in the entire week, when it quite obviously needed it. that and the fact the maid never gave toilet roll when we had none for a day, so we had to go complain. but other than that no complaints, and I will go back - beach is so near, lovely pool, lovely staff and the food was mostly good too (buffets)
