When we arrived for a late check-in after driving more than six hours, we were informed that a $40 cash-only deposit per room was required. The receptionist stated that she attempted to call me, but when I asked if a message was left, she said no. After a long day of travel, being told we needed to pay a cash deposit—one that was never mentioned in the booking description or at the time of reservation—was extremely frustrating. This was not our first stay at a Motel 6 during our road trip from the West Coast to Georgia, and none of the other locations required a cash deposit. This created a significant inconvenience, as we then had to leave and find a nearby ATM. Once we returned with the cash, completed the paperwork, and finally received our room keys, we noticed a guest a few rooms down barbecuing outside while playing loud music. There were people coming and going throughout the night, which made us feel uneasy. As a result, we remained on edge and repeatedly checked on our vehicles.

Nothing was included in the base rate I chose; however, you would think that their main facilities of the room would work, but they did not. The front desk staff was not very helpful with the key situation and walking from the upstairs back unit several times with food that got cold was pretty exhausting. Honestly I would not stay there again.

The key card system is awful. Had to go get new keys and fight the door to get into my room both times I left. Each time it was a 15-minute fight to get the door to open. The shower handle was not attached to the shower. It was a 1-unit device, so operating the shower was a definite challenge. Also, not enough pillows and the sheets and covers were filled with cigarette burn holes.
