Munising Motel

Got to my the house I had rented which has an attached motel..not a car in the parking lot and a soul around. Finally called the place and a women answered and told me she had no booking for me. Then when she did find it she said she was sorry but it had been doubled booked. She ended up putting my party there in town due to a death in our family up in a basement apartment across the street from the motel. NEVER was there EVER a car in the parking lot of this motel where we had rented an only 1 room left at the time of the booking....BUYER BEWARE and never stay here. What an absolute terrible experience.........do better!!

Check in was a breeze, even at the late hour we rolled in. The motel felt very safe and well lit. The room and bathroom were very clean and most things had been updated, except for the most important items: the bed and comforter. Both mattresses were terribly uncomfortable, with springs popping. Also, there was a yellowing duvet sandwiched between two sheets instead of encased in a duvet cover. We were only there to get a good nights sleep before hitting the trail for 4 days, so while the room was nice, the sleep was not.

It was clean, but noisy.

I really wanted to give this place a 5-star review, but we did have one slight problem that knocks it down slightly. This is a little independent mom and pop motel that is clean and nice for what you pay for it. We did have a bit of an odd experience checking in. I was driving to the west of Munising when my phone rang. It was a number I did not recognize, so assumed it was a spam call and did not answer it. About a half hour later we stopped at Lakenland Sculpture Park, for some sightseeing and I noticed I had a voicemail. It was from the Munising Motel. I called the number back and the lady on the phone said that we were the last people who had not checked in and wanted to know about how long it would be before we got there (this was about 6PM in the evening, so not super late). I told her we would probably be another hour. She asked if she could leave the room open with the key in it as she wanted to go home for the night. I said that would be fine and when we eventually got to the hotel, our room was open and the keys were in it. Everything worked out fine, but it was a bit odd. Anyway, the only negative thing was that when we got to the room the refrigerator was not working. It was plugged in and made noise but was warm to the touch. We fooled around with the thermostat, but could not get it to work. There was no one at the front desk to call about it either. The problem was that we had purchased a bunch of fresh cheese in Wisconsin and wanted to keep it cool. We ended up walking across the street to the gas station and bought a bag of ice to put in our cooler, so it all worked out, but the broken fridge marks my review down a bit. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel. It is easy walking distance of downtown which is also cool.

Very convenient and quite affordable. Lots of noise if you stay on first floor. Have a box fan available to block out noise. Hostess allowed us to check in early which was quite helpful.

I like the room as it is quite new and comfortable for a motel. Probably retrofitted recently. Room is clean and every basic thing you need is available. TV is huge. location is convenient to walk to town only thing is it is along the main road. We were there during the lull period so it wasn’t very noisy.

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Had a great stay! Rooms were spotlessly clean and looked newly remodeled. The beds were comfy and had great pillows. And it’s really close to town and to travel to sightseeing spots from. Great place!

We stayed on the first floor and was able to back the car right to our door. The room had plenty of room. The only problem we had was a squeaky bathroom door.

They accommodated our late arrival and our inability to call while we were out hiking and had no phone service. We checked into a very clean room. That was recently remodeled and looks fresh and inviting. The beds are comfortable and we feel right at home!
