Kanko Ryokan Yamato

Typical Japanese experience with super friendly owner and daughter. We loved the onsen!

A little bit far from Osaka. Some comments on Booking mention the best breakfast ever … be aware that it is very “Japanese”.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and kind. We had beautiful traditional breakfasts and enjoyed the lovely onsen which could be used privately. It is easy to get to from the train station.

We loved our stay. Just remember to take the cat/dog cable car to the first stop and walk to the ryokan. It is easy and close. The cable car station is at the train station. (Don't take a taxi! Our taxi driver mumbled "If I was God I couldn't find this place!")

What's there not to like. The hosts were lovely, the breakfast delicious and the onsen was incredibly relaxing I had to go twice even though I only stayed for one night

A Wonderful full-japanese breakfast filled with a myriad if flavours and tastes which could keep me full for a whole day.

The location is in a quiet hillside town that you can reach by cable car. The onsen is such a great way to end the day of visiting the area. The staff is amazing and very kind. Be sure to include the breakfast with your room. It is delicious and the variety of dishes is remarkable.

The owner was friendly, the receiptionist and her family made me feel like i was a family member. I was there during the Sakura season, it looked amazing i absolutely recommend to go there.

Lovely Ryokan! Had the nicest owners and cosy room. We used the onsen it was nice.

I walked here from the Ikoma station, it was a great ~half hour hike with what felt like around 350-ish meters of elevation gain. The ryokan has a nice vibe to it. The hot tub was nice too

The hosts were incredibly welcoming and hospitable — you could see how much care went into running the place. My room had a city view that was lovely, and there was hot toasted rice tea when I arrived. Ikoma itself was very charming . A bit of an effort to get to, but worth it.

It would have been nice to have a later checkout — 11 instead of 10 would have made a big difference.
