Motel 6-Simpsonville, SC - Greenville

Excellent location- close to restaurants, downtown, and the highway. Very clean and good value. This is a very basic hotel with no elevator to the second floor. The staff helped us problem-solve getting our bags upstairs, and were helpful in getting anything we needed.

In understanding this is a basic place to stay, there isn't anything we didn't like. Coffee is offered downstairs as well as ice and vending.

The location

First thing when we arrived and checked in after 3, our room wasn’t ready at all. The beds were stripped and the linens were sitting in a chair, trash wasn’t emptied and the room wasn’t clean at all. Our friends stayed at the same hotel and their room wasn’t ready either. The staff was helpful and put us in other rooms. Our room was not clean and had a funky smell. The beds were not comfortable and only had a small, sad pillow per person. The bed covers were riddled with cigarette burns and needed to be replaced. There were exposed wires tucked behind the headboards and the walls were bare except for a gross, unidentified stain periodically. The curtain wasn’t room darkening so at night there was a constant intrusive glow from outside streetlights. The microwave was ancient and the turntable would take bouts where it wouldn’t turn. The fridge was missing shelves and needed to be de-iced because it was completely frozen up. The bathroom door wouldn’t close unless you picked up on the handle and then shut it. We weren’t stocked with enough towels and wash cloths. There was no shampoo or conditioner only a small bar of soap. There wasn’t a hairdryer in the room we had to get one at the front desk. The toilet seat lid couldn’t be opened all the way because the sink counter was in the way and the toilet paper was all the way in front of the toilet so that people with short arms have to lean so far forward that they actually come off of the toilet. The air conditioner didn’t work sufficiently and everything in the room was damp for some reason. We almost slipped a couple of times because the floor was wet and felt gross. There was a big gap under the door and you could hear everything that went on all night long.

This is an extended stay crap hotel. It wreaked of weed and crappy spray cleaner. The room wasn't ready when we showed up at 430 an hour and a half after check in time. We still had to wait 30 minutes before we could check it. The bedding had clean and fresh sheets but weren't of good quality. They were dry and scratchy. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom was cleaned but not well. There was soap and a wash cloth left from previous guests. Overall I didn't like the stay and will not come back.
