Americas Best Value Inn Torrington, CT

THE POSITIVES Room clean, Bed comfortable, Shower good, Desk staff pleasant, personable, knowledgeable of area, decent number of power outlets in the room! Attentive service (plugged toilet taken care of while we were out). Lost and found my son had left his watch in the room housekeeping had it at the front desk when I arrived to look for it. Now…the Hallways are okay but could use some care -disrepair old carpet paint etc, room decor dated and room is small. If we are just considering the room and not taking into consideration we were in town for an event, the $140/night was not worth it. Took a while for ac to cool room Room door does not close all the way automatically need to push/pull it closed No elevator WiFi slow or spotty

The one remarkable thing I will say about this property was: the Wi-Fi was strong.

I knew it wasn’t gonna be great but it somehow exceeded expectations in the worst way. Pictures did not look like the booking and the “non smoking room” smelled like heavy smoke

It really is difficult to rate a hotel room such as this. On the one hand, the room was clean. On the other hand, the room is definitely 1-star sleazy. Old, uncomfortable mattress. Bare walls. No amenities to speak of. No elevator. Worn carpeting. No bedspread. Threadbare towels. Nominal toiletries. No facial tissue. In short, this is a $25 hotel room for which $125 is charged. They know that they’re among the only game in the City of Torrington (the other choice is a Days Inn that, believe it or not, may be even worse!) so they can get away with dramatically overcharging for this sad, sad room.

The property's overall look is dated and needs repairs. The parking lot is well lit like a prison yard. The rooms are dirty and in need of repairs. From the front door, which seems to have been forced open a few times, to the broken cover on the AC, to the bathroom sink that needs repairs, to the smell of smoke, I asked for a non-smoking room, and I was told at check-in that is what I got. I think they meant that I was not smoking in the room regardless of the fact that it smelled like everyone else did. The floor was dirty, and it seemed like no one took the time to clean the room. It was not worth the money.

The staff were wonderful and warm at this motel. I splurged and went for a room with a hot tub! But... that was a beat up room in rough shape and it was like they had slapped a tub into a run down room to raise rates upwards of $200 a night- at a hotel that without said tub would be hard pressed to charged $50 a night. I would not stay here again and I feel sad for the staff who are doing their best in a run down space.

We left within two hours because of bed bugs.

The ov we all experience was very unsatisfactory. We we're overcharged for the room. Your sites said price was $105. And we were charged almost$250. On our credit card. Not a great way to do business. When will I be reimbursed for the difference? No pool and your site said there was one. 1 washcloth,1 hand towel,and overall the place was old and not the cleanest Probably wouldn't use your site again or the hotel if thats the way you treat your customers.
