Bar service was very slow. It took ages to get a coffee. Had to ask 3 times.

Breakfast very bad! Don‘t drink coffee!!

Nice and comfy hotel and decent value with friendly staff. Room and bathroom really spacious with great air con. Downside is a lack of attention to detail which lets the overall vibe down. These flaws could so easily be fixed and would make a huge difference to the overall aesthetic of the hotel. For example the dining area is beautiful with high ceilings and huge windows but they overlook a terrace that is an absolute mess. Full of weeds. No one wants to look out on that. Would take a couple of members of staff less than a day to tidy it up and strange it hasn’t been done. Beautiful gardens and outdoor space but again tainted by cheap rattan furniture that is broken in parts and just shabby looking. Perimeter of carpets full of crumbs/ not been hoovered properly. Beautiful curtains pinned back with plastic paper clips. Chipped glasses. Guests notice things like this. I’d recommend investing in some good gardeners and getting the lovely outdoor spaces looking manicured and less run down. And maybe more eagle eyed cleaners.

Breakfasts were excellent and well exceeded expectations. Excellent variety and quality.

There wasn't anything about the hotel I didn't like. When researching the hotel there was an "open invitation" to walk through the rear gardens but there were so many" Private property " we didn't really recognise where we could stroll and where was off limits or if we were classed as "general public".

We stay here regularly by choice, as it is a lovely old-style hotel full of character. It is clearly privately owned and run with genuine care and attention from the owners. What really stands out is the refreshing attitude of the staff, who go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable, valued, and genuinely welcome. Given the enormous running costs of operating such a property in modern, highly taxed Britain, it is particularly impressive that the hotel remains so well maintained, clean, and welcoming. Well done to both the staff and owners for maintaining such high standards in challenging economic times.
