Wharf Master's Inn

If you can withstand the winding roads along California’s often gnarly HWY 1, please stop and spend at least one night at this wonderful place! Karen, Owner/Manager extraordinaire will assist you in any/every way to ensure your visit on the property. Views are exceptional, rooms are charming and clean, plenty of fun little accents and activities on site; corn hole and hiking among them. We spent 5 delightful nights there, met Karen’s wonderful, friendly and handy husband Cliff and even helped Karen celebrate her birthday. Can’t say enough about this spot…if one has any desire to visit the lovely and quaint Point Arena, one owns it to oneself to stay at the Wharf Master’s Inn! We are a well traveled couple and know what good people, good customer service and good properties look/feel like and this one is top tier!

What a great experience. This place was recommended to us, but still, Point Arena is still a very small town and wasn’t sure what to expect. There were four of us and we stayed in the WharfMaster House and it was charming! The view was just what I had hoped for and plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy the view. The weather was wonderful, which means it was cool but SUNNY! So yay! Karen was a doll, very helpful and always around. It’s very Victorian. Our room looked exactly like the pictures on their website. Enjoyed our stay very much and would book there again.

Great stop over location for heading North. The room was extremely spacious with a nice balcony looking onto the ocean. The staff were really nice and eager to help with anything. Liked the quirkiness of the DVD rental shelves and the offer of a small breakfast in the morning in the lobby area. Great pizza place o the beach which is a short walk down the hill from the hotel.

Despite the size, the rooms could probably do with a little makeover in places - bathroom blind not working / slightly odd shower cubicle etc given the cost of a one night stay.

We were road tripping and booking stays on the fly. We didn't have a lot of time to review details of hotels, etc., and simply booked because it was generally where we thought we'd end up that day. We could not have been more pleasantly surprised with the quality of hotel and the absolutely gorgeous views. The staff was so friendly and easy going. A perfect stop after being in the car all day. What a treat!
