Convento do Espinheiro, Historic Hotel & Spa

The common areas of the hotel are stunning! The wait staff in the bar and restaurant were wonderful! They must take comedy lessons and 2 are look alikes for Will Smith and Jack Black . They were so fun and enhanced our incredible dining experience. The bed was so comfortable and the linens were lovely . We had a balcony overlooking the grounds, which I imagine are gorgeous come spring and summer . It’s a quick ride into town, Park at the aqueduct parking lot for free and it’s an easy walk into the historic center . Stay here !!

This is a unique and beautiful property that is wonderfully situated for visiting Evora and the surrounding area. Our room was generously sized and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the grounds. The spa area was very nice - we particularly liked the Turkish bath. The breakfast was very generous and delicious and we ate at the Italian restaurant and had great pizza. The service at the hotel was also excellent and we particularly appreciated the hotel's assistance in helping us secure a restaurant reservation at a popular local restaurant.

Evora is interesting and this hotel a couple of miles out is a good choice with plenty of parking etc. The pool area is good and decent pool cafe and the indoor spa etc is decent. Breakfast is great and super service The original historical building is lovely and the history tour is great. Unfortunately our actual bedrooms felt very mediocre- like an American mid hotel range furniture- disappointing

A beautiful old convent where monks once stayed. Everything is beautifully appointed and the breakfast was a beautiful spread. The location is outside city center so call an uber to get around. Evora was a beautiful old city and our hotel balcony was a lovely view.

Stayed here in 2023 and enjoyed it so much that we planned a return to Portugal on my wife’s birthday to stay here in early 2025. Very disappointed to receive a phone call that they were oversold and my reservation needed to be cancelled. I guess if you plan to book here make sure you have a backup.

Made a reservation on their website in December 2024 for March. 6 weeks later I get an email that my room and dinner is cancelled because they're overbooked. When I call the reservations manager he tells me that they are getting ahold of the other parties they overbooked as well. I'm sure they will be thrilled also. Why wait 6 weeks to tell me they took too many reservations. How do you do business like this?Then they tell me since we overbooked we can't honor your reservation for dinner either. I would not do any business with this hotel. They cannot be trusted. Go elsewhere.

The hotel is lovely but not very close to Evora. The employees were great, and the hotel was clean. I had planned several tours but only one through the hotel. That tour was canceled along with two others I had booked online. The hotel is almost empty. I ate 2 dinners alone, two breakfast alone. Since there are so few people, I had to wait in the bar for someone to show up so I could order a meal. This happened twice. It was a great hamburger, but probably not worth the wait. After the last tour was cancelled, I decided to leave one day early, and the hotel refused to refund me for that day. Would I come back??? No, but if it complete quiet you are looking for, this is the place.

This was one of the best properties we have ever stayed at. The historic convent setting is extraordinary, from the hand painted tile walls in the cathedral to the former winery now serving as the main dining room. And the spa wing with its lovely rooms with walls of glass over,poking the grounds and an indoor pool and jacuzzi was great as well.

The hotel is gorgeous. But during check in the whole area smelled like fertilizer. Since the hotel is historic, there was a tour offered but we declined because of the smell. We are here in December and the room does not have heat. The room is large and the bed is large and comfortable. If it was warmer and there wasn't fertilizer in the air it would have been lovely.
