Cozy Garden Inn By OYO Hwy 40 Richmond

This place was quite literally the worst hotel room I've ever booked. As soon as we opened the door, the stench of weed was so pungent that I had to immediately step out (it was like someone had JUST smoked in there). We went back in to look over everything in the room, and it was really filthy. The floor was wet, the bed had several stains in it, the pillows were yellow, the towels in the bathroom were covered in dirt and super crusty, and the whole place in general was falling apart. Not to mention that the smoke alarm was ripped out of the wall and missing (which is illegal and super unsafe if a fire starts), and the phone wasn't hooked up and was hidden in a drawer. We ended up just leaving and staying at a nice hotel nearby because it was so unbearable.

If i could rate my experience here 0 stars I would. The property manager could barely speak english and kept trying to charge me after i paid on Expedia. The bed in the room they gave me was filthy and I had to have them change the sheets and then about 9pm they sent a guy to my room and said the manager needs me to come to the office and bring my credit card. So i did and had to prove I already paid once again! There were unsavory people talking loudly outside until about 2 in the morning. I was tempted to get in nu truck and leave and probably should have. I travel for a living amd I have to say this has been one of my worst experiences I've had in 11 years! I'm not racist at all but if your going to be working with the public then you need to know how to communicate with them. I don't recommend and have it marked not to stay here again.

It was a great price and room is a decent size. It smelled a little smoky and didn’t offer extras like coffee in the room, but it did include a breakfast. It is a good deal for a quick overnight stay.

Stayed 2 nights. Room seemed musky, but after I got home and unpacked, everything reeked of cigarette smoke, so I think that was the problem. Room was basic no frills. Nice TV with lots of channels. Good shower and sink with good hot water. Room looked dated. New curtains and bedspreads would help make it feel fresher. Rooms are not quiet. A train goes near by. Unfortunately, my first night people we’re playing loud music in the parking lot and from 2:30 - 3:30 am there was an argument in the parking lot with lots of yelling, foul language, and a resulting broken room window for a different room than mine. The price was very good. Breakfast appeared to be just cereal. Manager was very nice and friendly. I probably would not stay here again.

Old, smelt like smoke, no late check out available. After arriving late due to road construction and heavy fog.

The rooms are huge and the staff is awesome! I will definitely be staying here Everytime I come thru richmond
