Doulos Phos The Ship Hotel

First, the view there is splendid as it’s surrounded by the sea. The 110-year-old Ship Hotel, also known as the Grand Old Lady of the Seas, was built in 1914 and awarded by the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s oldest passenger ship and owned by a Singaporean who saved it from the scrapyard and refurbished it to a cosy unique hotel named Doulos Phos. Guests were even given a heritage tour of the ship to learn more about its history and see first-hand the old engines that were still preserved but no longer in use. We really love the cabin room, which is very spacious and tastefully furnished with a comfortable bed and specially built-in table and benches if you choose to have your meals in your room. We have pothole windows which look out to the sea view and when night falls, the place is lighted up so it’s really beautiful. There is only one restaurant that serves breakfast and all meals. Food selection is limited but quality is good. We were told that a seafood restaurant and spa facility are in the works in the near future. For now, you can still book a massage service in the comfort of the cabin room. During the stay, we were mesmerized by the peaceful and quiet serenity of the surrounding and breathtaking sunset scene at the poolside. The staff are also very friendly and made us feel at home. Thanks for the birthday cake! Some may find this place too quiet and remote as there is no beach and not near the city center. But if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway to relax and recharge without noisy distractions, this is definitely the place. We will be back.

The location and the beautiful breeze at that time of the year.. The story of the ship was also powerful.. The ship is beautifully remodeled inside

not much benefit to staying to this hotel, we should have researched more - there's no beach despite being next to the sea. no convenience store, snacks within resort are expensive (4 SGD for coke), only one restaurant in the ship open, no activities other than the ship tour. it's so far and there's no grab/gojek in the resorts area, so the taxi fare to get anywhere is really expensive, overall our trip ended up exceeding our budget severely.

Unique stay in a historical ship. Novel experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Owners were present and friendly as well. Rooms were clean with good bedding and hot water. Nice pool, but pool bar was closed. Overall, it was an interesting stay, but improvements required before we'll return.

The breakfast selection was limited - no pancakes or waffles or cheese selection available. Limited variety of food. Fruit selection was also small, and fruit juices were made from cordial and not fresh juices. I was surprised that lattes and flat whites were not included in the breakfast buffet and would require additional charge. TV Channels were all Indonesian & unable to cast from phone to TV to watch from mobile. Room 404 also had some issues with the ventilation and AC.
