Elliott House Inn

We like and often stay in ‘boutique hotels’ in historic buildings (in Europe) but this place was a dump. We were swayed by the website descriptions and pictures which certainly were not accurate, should have looked more closely at the reviews on various sites. Nowhere did it say that the rooms were not made up daily and when I queried this I was just told by the rather unfriendly receptionist “it’s company policy”, we were staying 4 nights and only when I emailed the contact page was any satisfaction given i.e room was cleaned, they did give us some fresh towels when asked for. The room stank of mold / mildew, probably the A/C filters need cleaning, mold in bathroom showers and a cockroach! I know it is subjective but pretty low quality furniture and bedding, a saggy soft mattress with stained protective cover and no pillow underslips. At this price point I would also have expected slippers and bathrobe. My son joined us in Charleston and we wished we’d booked in his hotel (Vendue) which was cheaper and would have fulfilled our expectations. Our stay was really diminished by this poor accommodation

Stayed at the Elliott House Inn for a quick little getaway. Conveniently located in the middle downtown Charleston, not far from all the shops, great restaurants, and all the must see spots in downtown Charleston. They have coffee in the courtyard every morning and a wine and cheese reception every evening. The staff is very friendly and helpful while not overbearing. We will definitely be back!

Stayed last weekend for my birthday with my hubby and this little Inn was so quaint and lovely. The staff were so Accommodating and friendly. We would 100% stay here again!

Last minute trip to Charleston, SC and the staff was so patient explaining the room options and discounts available. We booked and were happy to find ample, affordable parking right across the street. The rooms had everything we needed and were absolutely immaculate. The Inn is right in the middle of restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing, actually just steps away. We will be back

Great location! Perfect for a weekend getaway. A little noisy, but overall amazing place to stay. Loved the happy hour wine and snacks!

Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. Great location, close to wonderful shops and restaurants. Conveniently located by parking garage too. Highly recommend The Elliot!

Great location, right in the heart of the shopping, food, and very close to historic and beautiful sights. Super friendly staff made me feel right at home and helped navigate great things to do in town. Highly recommend.

This is in a great area with loads of restaurants and shopping on the doorstep. Staff were friendly and helpful. Happy Hour was a nice touch. The property could use a bit of a refresh and I heard other guests complaining about the in-room AC units being loud or not working efficiently. We might stay again, but it’s an expensive area of Charleston for lodging and I wouldn’t call this a bargain. For us it was worth not having to drive around all weekend.

The room was clean. No accommodation for a microwave. The toilet bowl was dirty with a ring in it. Mosquitos were coming in the room. The AC unit was working well enough. The sink stand was rusty. The offer the wine and cheese, but only for 1 hour. We were not made aware of $75 oft of dining. We had to make the reservation through them. Although I made my reservation through Expedia. But I’m still a paying customer. So we didn’t get anything special.
