Van der Valk Volendam

Nice hotel to stay a bit outside of Amsterdam. Free parking is great and you can take bus 20 minutes to Amsterdam central station. It is 5 minutes to Volendam city center which is beautiful. I would stay here again if I go back to Volendam.

I stayed here for one night during a recent business trip. The restaurant and bar were friendly, relaxed and welcoming. The food was delicious, one of the best Carpaccio's I have had. The beer on tap was well kept (as a previous bar landlord with high training I can appreciate good beer). The bar team were very smiley, chatty and friendly which is always good to make you feel at ease. The room was spacious, comfortable and included the always enjoyable espresso machines. The gym, as an extra charge, was small with a serious stench of "workout" could maybe do with a little more ventilation and attention. Although small, with little equipment, you can still get a decent workout completed and follow with a dip in the pool. Slight annoyance that to get an iron and Ironing board, you have to walk to reception and fetch it yourself. You then receive a rather pathetic small ironing board that has to sit on the bed unless you crouch on the floor. Overall, pleasing stay, would probably look elsewhere when next in the area, but wouldn't be offended to return due to the friendly team.

Very close to Volendam. But also centrally located to other cities such as Hoorn and Alkmaar

The hotel was in a convenient location with the bus stop about 2mins walk away, with buses to Amsterdam or to Voldendam and Edam. It was also about a 20min walk along the canal to Volendam, but, in my view, Edam was the nicer village to wander around and explore. The hotel itself had lots of facilities, including health spa, bicycles for hire, a bar and restaurant. However I was not there long enough to make use of these. The room was a good size, with a nice view. The wifi was strong and reliable. Only two negatives in my experience. The rooms weren't very sound proofed, so could hear a lot of noise from other guests. And the shower, while hot, wasn't as powerful as I would have liked.

It was very quiet. The stuff was friendly and very attentivly.

Although we enjoyed the great hotel amenities and it's cleanliness the taxi service from Schipol Airport that said ' fair rates' charged 150E from Schipol Airport by driving in a zig zag to get there. Take the Bus that is in front of the Hotel with cheap daily rates - buy day tickets from the bus as it's cheaper than the hotel. It goes direct to Central Station where all tours and the Historical Center of Amsterdam are. A short walk from hotel takes you to 2 historical towns that are so picturesque - windmills and antique sailboats.

Hotel staff was super nice and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious.

Nice hotel with frequent buses to Amsterdam and other aeas. Excellent food in restaurant and superb staff throughout the hotel.

Beautiful hotel with great facilities close to a beautiful town. Just what was required after a days cycling. Fantastic evening meal.
