Wonderful food for dinner and breakfast

An unbelievably beautiful area. The host went above and beyond. The food was delicious and the hot springs were spectacular.

Fantastic host, great location, a lovely onsen, and delicious homemade meals.

There are too many positive things to mention about this place. A beautiful location in front of a river where you can build your own natural onsen. This experience will be hard to bit. A delicious dinner, breakfast and bento lunch. Very kind staff who was always very helpful. Thank you very much. I will recommend this place to anyone who is planning to be around the Kumano Kodo.

Very conveniently located to the bus stop (right in front of the property), we were able to store our bags ahead of check-in and the outdoor onsen (next to the river) was a perfect way to end a hot, sticky day. The meals were delicious and prepared with care. We got the dinner, breakfast and bento lunch package because there are very few restaurants in the Kawayu Onsen area. Wished we could have stayed two nights but our schedule didn’t allow. If we return to the area, will definitely enjoy Kohei-san’s hospitality again. Highly recommend.

I loved staying here and it was one of my favorite places I stayed while hiking the Kumano Kodo. The owner is a cool, laidback guy. He gave me a tour of everything when I arrived. We had access to robes for the onsens, a massage chair, and delicious coffee. The vegan bento box I received for lunch was wonderful! Plus, my room had a river view.

Nothing, I loved it here! I know the owner says the place is “old” but I enjoyed it and found it to be perfect for one night.

De locatie van dit verblijf is fantastisch. Een mooie groene omgeving, aan de rivier en een vrij toegankelijk onsen voor de deur. Verder is het te bestellen eten vooral in de avond echt geweldig. Tot slot is de eigenaar bijzonder vriendelijk en betrokken. Het sanitair is schoon, maar wel verouderd. Daar is echter de prijs ook naar.

Ondanks dat het een rookvrij kamer betrof, rook de kamer toch erg naar rook. Daarnaast is één douche voor meerdere kamers is wel erg beperkt.
