The Lion Hotel

Very clean and newly refurbished throughout. Staff were friendly giving a great service. Good value delicious dinner and drinks in the pub. Full breakfast included and easy parking by the entrance.

The location and parking were excellent. The meal on the first night was good and no problems were encountered. The owner and his partner were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel has a quiet policy from 9:00 pm to 7:00am and this was well observed on our first night. The breakfast options on both mornings were very good ☝️

The quiet policy was certainly not good on our second night 🤔 probably due to the busy bar directly beneath our room 🥴 We didn’t have a great dining experience on the second night as there was some confusion with our ordered meals going to another couple and then our meals having to be returned as they were incorrect 🙄 and there was also an issue with our bill which was quickly resolved.

We had room 4 which had a sleigh type bed very comfortable. Also I have medical issue which required an unusual request which they provided without question or any problems. We had breakfast very good. We also ate dinner which was good with some unusual possibly Welsh versions of meals, which were also good quality.

The actual village location is not best with a large agricultural company based in the town which is a bit of a carbuncle. This is not the fault of The Lion hotel and does provide lots of jobs for local community. The main road can be noisy with farm vehicles.

Breakfast was very good as was the evening meal. The hotel had almost everything we wanted and I am sure that if we had asked for anything else the land lord would have done his best to provide it.

Room was not serviced every day & there was nowhere to hang our clothes. for us it was not a problem but for someone going to an event it could have been

The beds were passable, the shower was lovely with good pressure. The choice of breakfast was really good. Basically you could ask for whatever you fancied and the chef was very accommodating.

Stayed for two nights and on the second day staff cleaned the tea cups, but did not make the beds, clean anything else or replenish the milk. As the hotel is also a pub, you have to remember that you will hear noise from drinkers throughout the night. The TV seemed to be possessed on the second night and started to turn off and on again, scroll through settings etc... more than likely not a supernatural event but more than likely interference from another remote control in the vicinity. The food in the restaurant is ok. The first night I ate there, the food was pretty good, but I am assuming a different chef was working the Saturday evening shift as the food was bland and the veg were not cooked properly.
