Blenkinsopp Castle Inn

A very good breakfast was included in out room rate. We ate in the restaurant on the evening of our arrival and the food and service was very good. The hotel doubles as a pub for the locals in the attached retirement complex and we got chatting with some of the locals who were a really friendly bunch. Staff in the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. Excellent location for visiting the local attractions of Hadrians Wall and Vindolanda.

No negatives really apart from the broken plug in the sink in the bathroom - this didn't cause any problems however.

The place was very sweet with a cozy feeling and loved how the original building was incorporated into the design.

The rooms could’ve had new carpets and a bit of a touch up as there were some damp stains on the walls. The beds weren’t the most comfy.

There were definitely some highlights to our stay. The room and en suite were spacious and clean, which made for a comfortable base. The restaurant food was great. It’s also in a great spot for exploring Hadrian’s Wall and Sycamore Gap, which was a big plus for us.

Unfortunately, there were a few disappointing aspects of our stay. The shower had virtually no pressure, making it pretty much unusable after a long day of walking. Although the B&B was advertised as dog-friendly, there was no secure area to let our dog off lead, which made things tricky. The property is also very close to a busy A road, which wasn’t ideal for a peaceful break. Lastly, the booking details led me to believe we had a private patio, but that wasn’t the case.

The rooms were large and beds were comfortable. the decor was lovely! We enjoyed 2 nights of incredible food in the restaurant on location.

The shower was not consistent with hot water.

Very friendly staff and the food was Excellent. Great location too.
