Octant Vila Monte

We had 4 day stay at Villa Monte following a trip to Albefura with friends. It was a peaceful haven and how i imagine the Algarve was before the high rise resorts took over the western Algarve. Turning in from the road it was like entering another world, all green and landscaped beautifully. We had a very comfortable room and the staff were very helpful and attentive, booking boat trips for us and answering questions about the locality. We did not have dinner at the hotel(it was quite pricey) and found a tiny restaurant in Montecarpacho which looked like a cafe from the outside but had a lovely room at the back where food was very good and reasonably priced. It was good to be with local people who were so friendly. Tavira is a lovely old town and the beaches and islands were easily accessible. I visited the spa and had THE BEST massage and Turkish bath do try it. Only slight downside (other than very expensive dinners) was the music at the pool bar which we found too loud, it would have been good to have had peace there as i think that is what most visitors would like. Exceeded our expectations - friendly and welcoming service, complimentary champagne reception at the pool bar, spacious & comfortable air-conditioned villa-style accomodation. 4 different pools throughout the resort with plenty of shade & seating. Romantic dining by candlelight in the Orangerie terrace, with superb locally produced food, overlooking the countryside with views of mountains & sea. Fantastic place to get away from it all, especially for couples, about 30 mins drive from Faro airport. Worth every cent - would love to visit again!

A beautiful hotel with beautiful grounds. The staff were very helpful and attentive although the Maid Service was erratic. I had to ask for pool towels as they weren't replaced for two days and on one day the room still had not been cleaned at 4pm. However when I brought the matter to the attention of the Reception staff it was rectified immediately. I thought the pool bar food rather expensive and did not eat at the Hotel's Gourmet Restaurant as I thought the prices were excessive. We were never sure when the Pool bar would be closing as on some occasions it was open until late and on other occasions closed at 7pm.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Unless you're there to play golf, the location is a bit out of the way and far from the best beaches and towns.

Extremely pleased with our stay. It does look as good as the pictures in demo. In fact we agreed that it would be our dream property to own to live there as a family (now we have to win a lottery :). Grounds and decor are fab. We were also lucky to be upgraded to a suit so our three y/o daughter slept on her own. What pleased me the most was that there were quite a lot of people but they were dispersed around three secluded swimming pools or around the huge park so it felt absolutely peaceful (and yes, there were children but somehow you did not hear them :). Staff is the most friendly and helpful. Food in Orangerie restaurant is really worth it.
