Octant Vila Monte

As above... Great hotel, lovely setting and staff excellent. Only one small point, the restaurant had a limited menu but fortunately the kids menu was available for adults too!!! Little pricey too but overall, a very decent place to stay.

Destination for those looking for a relaxing getaway with great food, friendly and committed staff. Not a haven for 'Brits abroad' (which you get down the west end of the Algarve). Being British that's a plus and it's refreshing to hear several different continental accents. Well kept pitch and putt in a beautiful setting. The head waiter at the Orangerie is excellent and knows his wines and ports!

Staff were excellent, the hotel grounds were quiet and lovely to stroll around. The pools were quiet with plenty of sunbeds. The rooms need upgrading which is currently planned in the near future. The main downside for us was the location as you needed a car even to go out for a drink or meal, this is the only reason why we would not return to the hotel in the future.

The hotel and staff are extremely accommodating and really tried very hard to ensure we had a good holiday. The hotel is not at present geared towards young children but they created a kids club for our trip and overall the children had a good time. The hotel advised they may offer a children's club in the summer. The hotel organised a yoga teacher for me and she was also very good. Food is amazing - especially the fish baked in salt. It is worth enquiring about upgrading to a suite as they offered a very good rate to do so.

Staff were friendly, courteous and professional and went the "extra mile" when we required a special diet for our son. The restaurant and food and was excellent. The resort itself had a "shabby chic" feel to it , not pristine but also not unpleasant. The website mentioned a shuttle bus but not available when we were there and that was a dissapointment. Also the free wi fi is only in the pool and main reception areas. Not a disaster and on the whole an enjoyable stay and a resort I would recommend

Turning off the road and into the Vila Monte entrance the view and lushness was amazing. The road up to the reception has a practice golf course either side and gives a great first impression. The resort is spacious but with a small number of superior rooms in 'villas' or suites spaced well apart so often felt like our own personal villa. The normal sized rooms are in 2 storey villas but again not crowded. We had a 'superior' room in a single floor villa (5 rooms total) and a good pool directly outside. There are 3 pools in the resort available to everyone. We went in the 'low' season but even when busy I doubt it would seem crowded. You really do need a car as the restaurant is both expensive €130 for 2 with wine) and limited menu choices - but it is absolutely excellent Michelin star quality so we ate there twice and drove to Montcarapacho, Fuseta or Olhou on other days. The staff were all really friendly and helpful - another couple decided to stay an extra 3 days and Carla (Manageress) took care of the flights, car hire and room changes for them.

We live on the Algarve and wanted a few nights away, the hotel and staff are great and are very helpfull. I can not think of one bad thing to say, we will go again in the near future

Website gives fairly accurate picture. Goodto have several buildings spaced around the grounds. Peaceful and elaxing ambience. Restaurant and terrace were excellent but hotelk suffered from lack of an obvious bar area and the pool side bar was not functioning throughout our stay even though we were told it would be operational from 1 June.

Only had a 3 day trip - but just what we needed - REALLY relaxed place, lovely large room and the staff could not have been more helpful. Getting into the village was arranged for us - but not much once in there - only 2 restaurants. Hotel is a great place to unwind - close enought to airport - but down long drive so felt like you were in midst of nowhere! Evening food was only the 5 star restaurant - so they ended up opening the poolside restaurant for us one night. Transfer from airport was expensive - arranged by hotel - but was prompt and in nice cars. I have already recommended it to a friend for a short break away from it all!

This resort is beautiful. We were upgraded from a standard to a superior room with terrace and sitting room, sliding patio doors and king size bed. Breakfast was wonderful. Relaxing pool area and wireless internet in common areas. Quiet retreat on a manicured golf course with spa facility on site. Note that the enterance to the hotel is between the highway and the town. Location is close to fishing villages in the Algarve.
