Volcano Lodge Hotel & Thermal Experience

Restaurant food very expensive and not very good. Not allowed to bring snacks or drinks in pool area was a unfortunate. Hotel grounds were well kept and rooms were clean

The property was very outdated. We had the king size bed room with a private thermal pool. It was just okay. Nothing special and probably wouldn’t have spent the extra money for the private thermal. The sauna on the property is tiny and the hot springs was basic. You have to rent towels by handing in tickets and if you lose it, it’s $20/towel. The employees always look annoyed when they have to give towels out as they are doing multiple jobs, i.e, bartending, servers, host at the restaurant. They look a bit overwhelmed….. The property is VERY large so if you’re not renting a car and your room happens to be further in the back, it can easily be a 1/2-3/4 mile walk to the reception. The only great thing about our stay is the breakfast which was buffet style and had a great spread. Would most likely try another place when we return to La Fortuna

Checked in early and the room was available. That never happens.

Everything was great, but they did charge me $90 deposit. which was supposed to be returning my card and it never came back so keep an eye on that.

We loved this property. The dining was good and we enjoyed the pool and hot springs.

This is much more like a 3 star or 2.5 star resort. The staff very friendly, but the windows in the rooms didn’t fully close which allowed in bugs/lizards. Staff very friendly and they let us check in early. The hot springs were cool - but not well lit in the dark, making them not very inviting at night at all.

Breakfast food could be a tad better but other than that, my experience was amazing, peaceful and perfect
