"Requires Signage"

8.0

The hotel is lovely, comfortable, friendly staff. However it's easy to become lost within the building due to a lack of signage. It would be simple to have arrows showing the way to reception and restaurants when exiting the lift or stairs.

"A mixed bag"

6.0

THe hotel is nice, but quite remote from anything. Definitely worth upgrading to the retreat - which is much more relaxed than the main building. Retreat pool is lovely. The Italian restaurant is brilliant - amazing food and a real highlight for us. We had some problems at check in - they tried to charge for 'extra guests' even though these were noted on our booking with British Airways. Front desk people were a bit abrupt and not that helpful - but the general manager sorted it out and he was excellent. It was a shame as it started the holiday off very poorly. I got ill with Salmonella during the stay and they were very helpful in getting a doctor out to me.

"Exceptional service and heartfelt hospitality"

10.0

We had an unforgettable stay celebrating our 9th anniversary. From the warm welcome by Isabelle at arrival to the attentive service from all the swimming pools crew, every team member made our stay truly special. The room was spotless and perfectly arranged, the breakfast team and quality were delightful (special mention to the young lady who made our mimosas our way!), and the dinner at the Mirador excellent. The suite upgrade and thoughtful welcome gifts were such a lovely touch, we couldn’t have asked for more. A heartfelt thank you to everyone for making this stay so memorable.

"Beautiful views but disappointing arrival"

8.0

We visited the retreat at the ritz Carlton abama last week. We didn’t get off to the best start! Having booked (and paid) for 3 people in a deluxe sea view retreat room, on arrival we were advised we couldn’t go to our room until we had paid an additional €350 for our 12 year old to use the sofa bed which was already in the room. This wasn’t managed well at all. Having been up since 3am travelling we were met by reception who were very evasive about the charge and eventually said we weren’t allowed in our room until we had paid it. Having paid several thousand pounds for this holiday it was not a good start and not what we would expect from a 5 star luxury resort. As we were staying at the retreat we walked down to our room after dinner and the paths are very badly lit. As a result I fell down the stairs and injured my ankle which is still painful even since my return, and resulted in a visit to a&e. On the positive side, the pool and restaurant teams were lovely. The pool area was spotless and we appreciated the drinks and snacks included at the retreat. The Italian restaurant was our favourite and we enjoyed the breakfast. The views were amazing and our room itself was lovely. Very spacious and clean. Lovely balcony. Many rooms seemed to have access to golf buggies but we did not (perhaps if we had I wouldn’t have fallen). I am not sure what the rules are there but worthwhile asking. We had stayed at other luxury 5 star resorts and whilst this was very good it was tarnished by the issues at the start and the fall unfortunately.

"Extremely Dissatisfied"

2.0

Dear Guest Relations Team, I would like to raise a formal complaint regarding the poor service we experienced during our recent stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Abama (23–30 October 2025), as well as the mishandling of our belongings after check-out. During our stay: No luggage assistance was provided despite two phone calls and more than two hours of waiting — we had to carry our luggage ourselves. Only one restaurant was open for lunch, which could not meet our dietary needs. Several restaurants were closed during dinner hours, leaving very limited dining options. Breakfast quality and selection were well below expected standards. Our room was not cleaned during the day. We reported these issues to the shift manager, who tried to assist, but the overall experience was unacceptable for a Ritz-Carlton property. After check-out: Shortly after leaving for the airport on 30 October (around 11:00 am), we realised we had left three jackets and a fleece in our room. We immediately called reception and agreed to cover express shipping costs (e.g. DHL to London). However, more than 24 hours later we only received an email stating that “the Lost and Found department is informed.” Three days later, we were told the items were “not found,” which is extremely disappointing and difficult to believe. This situation is unacceptable and far below Ritz-Carlton standards. I request an immediate investigation into the lost items and an appropriate gesture to address both the service failures during our stay and the poor handling afterward. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise on the next steps. Best regards

"Stunning resort with amazing staff, amenities, and restaurants"

10.0

We just got home from a week at the Ritz Carlton Tenerife, and we were absolutely blown away by the resort, amenities, and the incredible staff. Before we even arrived, the concierge helped me to organize our transportation to/from the hotel, book dinner reservations, and recommended activities for during our stay. This pre-planning made our stay so seamless as everything was already planned. When we got to the hotel, we were greeted by Antonio and Estelle, they made our check-in so smooth after a long 22 hour trip. Our room was wonderful, comfortable bed, massive bathroom with Diptyque amenities, and wonderful balcony that we enjoyed sunsets and stargazing from. We stayed in The Retreat, which we highly recommend for a more intimate experience at the resort. Our Retreat ambassador, Francisco, checked in on us frequently to make sure we were enjoying our time and offered his assistance in any additional planning. We loved the Retreat pools as well - and are so grateful to Miguel and Daniel for taking such good care of us at the Tacande pool all week! It was a quiet slice of heaven. We also loved being able to have breakfast with stunning ocean views at El Mirador being taken care of by Tamara, Iria and their team. At night, we enjoyed the fantastic restaurants at the resort. As vegetarians, we appreciated the many options available. If you are vegan or vegetarian, contact the concierge before your arrival to get the menus available for each restaurant at the resort! We started the week at MB enjoying their vegetarian tasting menu and couldn’t believe the quality of the meal. Special thanks to Alejandro and David for guiding us through each phenomenal course! We absolutely loved Verde Mar, a locally sourced vegetable forward restaurant. Jaime; the manager, and Matteo took such good care of us both nights we went. While the menu changes with seasons, the kimchi croquettes were our favorite! After dinner, we would stop by the Lobby Bar most nights for a nightcap and to enjoy the beautiful terrace. Victor and his team are an absolute delight, and incredibly quick to make drinks. In addition to the fabulous service, we loved that each pool and the beach had sunscreen readily available (SPF 10/20, 30, and 50). This simple amenity made packing so much easier. We also were able to enjoy the Wellness Circuit at the Spa as Retreat guests and loved the jacuzzi, sauna, and steam rooms. I also got a wonderful massage - the El Teide hot stone massage helped to melt my stress away! We cannot recommend the Ritz Tenerife and their amazing team enough. Thank you for a perfect week!

"Terrible!!"

2.0

Wow, your hotel and check-in experience is an absolute disgrace at the Ritz Carlton Tenerife. The treatment of my family today at check-in has left my family traumatised and wanting to leave and go home. We are seasoned travellers and stay in the best hotels around the world. We like to vist Tenerife in October, usually staying at Bahia Del Duque (which was fully booked this year). We decided to stay at the Ritz Carlton, from the moment we arrived it was a massive disappointment. Your check-in staff insisted we had to pay for a 4th person (child) who we had already paid for, the room (suite) was dirty and noisy. We were so upset by the whole experience tfat we had to cancel our dinner reservations and order rooom service. Never again would we stay at a Ritz Carlton, such a shame as we planned to stay at the Ritz Carlton in Palm Sorjngs over Christmas. Oh, and one pillow on the bed? not what one would expect from a 5 star hotel??

"Excellent venue"

8.0

Room was very nice facing the ocean and in a very good and clean status. Kids club and the staff there were excellent. Food was good. Staff is very friendly. The only room for improvement is speed in service (check in and out , housekeeping, and food delivery in restaurants)

"The most relaxing holiday we’ve had"

10.0

We booked the Ritz-Carlton Abama through a British Airways package, which overall worked out really well. BA were especially helpful on the disability access side – I’d had ankle surgery a couple of weeks before, and their team were attentive, quick to respond, and even available on WhatsApp 24/7 to help make changes to plans mid-holiday. That part was excellent. The flights themselves, however, were pretty ordinary. Service on BA has become more like a budget airline – no complimentary water, tea, or coffee, which feels wrong on a flag carrier (perhaps we’ve just been spoiled by Qantas…). Next time I’d at least consider booking separately and looking at an airline like easyJet to save money. That said, without BA we might not have ended up at this unbelievable resort – and that made the whole package worthwhile. The Ritz-Carlton Abama is just about as relaxing and beautiful as it gets. There were families, couples, business groups and conferences while we were there, but it never once felt crowded or noisy. There’s so much space, so many pools, and so many places to relax that you can always find peace and quiet if you want it. Highlights for us: • El Mirador restaurant – a personal favourite. Watching the sunset from there is a must-do, and the food is outstanding. Definitely book in advance (weeks ahead if you can). Our waiter, Sebastian, looked after us brilliantly. • The gym – genuinely excellent, far better equipped than most hotel gyms, which was important to us. • The spa – my girlfriend had a massage with Laura, who she described as the best she’s ever had. • The staff – special mention to Cecilia at the main bar, who couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. • Accessibility – the hotel staff were fantastic about helping me get up and down the hill after ankle surgery, whether it was to El Mirador or down to the beach. The October weather was also perfect: mid-20s every day, sunny and clear. Exactly what we’d hoped for. A couple of small notes for improvement: the acoustics in the Citadel can mean you hear activity early in the morning – we were woken around 6am a few times, possibly by laundry carts. It didn’t bother us much (we were up for the gym anyway), but might be frustrating if you’re hoping for a lie-in. Also, while we didn’t mind the conference vibe, it would have been helpful if reception had mentioned that our corridor was near some of the “office” areas. Yes, drinks and extras were on the expensive side, but not outrageous compared to London prices. And honestly, the level of service, the quality of the facilities, and the general sense of calm made it more than worth it. We came home feeling completely recharged, and it’s easy to see why so many guests we spoke to return twice a year. This was one of our favourite holidays, and we’d definitely go back.
