"FAUX B&B"

I definitely did NOT like arriving and finding no host nor any access to accommodations I had already paid for despite my having twice given my arrival as between 6pm and 7pm more than 10 days prior (I arrived at 6:30 pm). I had recieved no message in reply as to a self check-in so was completely unprepared to find an empty house after getting off of a 16 hour flight from Vietnam. I was beyond exhausted. I walked around the entire home knocking on 4 different doors, but nothing, there was no one. I borrowed a neighbors wifi to look up the booking and called the host, she replied "I won't be there for awhile, we have gone out to get something to eat". At that point she informed me one of the 4 doors was unlocked. How was I to know? I had recieved no message informing me of such.during that last 10 days, a few words could have prevented me a lot of frustration and inconvenience. It was very off-putting being told three times in that same phone conversation to take off my shoes before I was even in the house. When the host arrived there was no greeting, no conversation or concern that I had been standing outside for 30 minutes, just immediately "Come to your room because we want to eat". Apparently my presence was in the way of that. It states in the booking that there are lounges and shared kitchen area, I was sitting at the kitchen table when they arrived, but was clearly not welcome there. I was also told that my luggage was not permitted upstairs in my room with me, it must remain downstairs (with your valuables unmonitored and unprotected). I took my luggage upstairs into my room, it does not sleep separate from me. I had to carry each piece up very steep narrow stairs even though the booking states that the entire unit is on ground level. A man had come home with her, but there was no offer of help, and you will be ordered to not have your luggage come in touch the floor on the way, she will watch to make sure this does not

I was shown the room and bathroom and told "This is your space", she shut the door and that was that. I had already been made to feel unwelcome. She did not communicate any information as to the morning's "included breakfast" so I had no idea what was the process when I woke next morning, but it didnt matter because there was again no sign of the host nor any message on Booking.com, not even a note on the counter. You have to figure it all out yourself. Turns out "Breakfast included" is dry toast, jam and a banana. No problem, would have preferred to have been told this. I left at my check out time and left the house as I found it. Empty. It is VERY questionable as to being instructed to pay an additional fee for "Covid sanitizing" when all other accommodations stopped charging Covid charges after the whole world got vaccinated. The room areas have to be cleaned and sanitized after a guest anyway. If you are that uncomfortable with people coming into your home, then you are in the wrong business. Micro-managing is not welcoming, it is disturbing. I feel that the least amount of effort was put in making a guest in this place comfortable in every way as it is not just about a physical bed, a true B&B provides acceptance as well. If you like being treated as though you are a problem in being there and not a guest, you will like this place. I did not.

this would have been a good review if it weren't for Vivian and pushing for unlawful payments. Unacceptable.

Read the poor reviews both here and on google. The house itself is fine and the rooms are nice. Upon arrival I was immediately hassled for a $20 COVID cleaning fee either via etransfer or cash (??? huge red flag. I never paid it). I informed her that COVID has been eradicated since 2022 and she replied with 'i don't know what diseases you're carrying'. This is absolutely unacceptable. I cannot support foreigners who immigrate to this country and begin scamming locals and tourists. I understand it's only $20 but the principle is what bothers me here. She is aggressive about the payment. While trying to have my dinner she repeatedly asked for the payment and refused to be quiet in the presence of one of her guests trying to have a quiet evening after a long few days of travel. I told her to contact booking.com for the payment which of course she will not do because she knows she is in the wrong here. Furthermore, there was a half dead wasp in the bathroom which makes me question how serious the 'covid sanitation' truly is. I'll be filing an official complaint through both booking.com, Airbnb and any other platform she is operating on. Do not support people like this. Do not book here. Spend a bit of extra cash and go support a Canadian business that isn't intent on ripping you off. Shame on you Vivian.

The breakfast was fine.

I was shocked that the owner charges $30 "SANITATION FEE" and $30 after 22.30 check in LATE FEE. If your flight comes in late, the $116.00 Booking. com price suddenly becomes $176.00. One is better off to book Comfort Inn.
