"Great location for families skiing, service is top notch!"

8.0

Amazing location! Ski in, ski out, right in the village and all the action. We had a loft suite room and it was perfect for our family of four. Parking garage was great. Hot tub and other amenities were on point. Never waited longer than a minute for an elevator. Staff was attentive and while they were busy, they definitely all deserve five stars. We would definitely stay here again. With that said a few things of note: 1. We were never told about the ski lockers or provided our combo for the lock. Perhaps a newbie ski family mistake for not assuming, but also frustrating. 2. I had called about clearance height for vehicles as we wanted to use our Thule on our SUV. The front desk was not much help. Had we known there is a valet lot for vehicles with rooftop boxes, we would have done it for the nominal fee. As I am sure many parents can relate, driving in a snow storm when you can't see out the rear is not fun... roof box solves that. 3. The restaurant on site is lackluster. Service is on point; however, food is just alright and pricey, it is chaotic, and why in the heck only "reservations get window seats" is a policy is beyond any family we spoke to. All these awesome window tables looking at the village and lake that go empty because "walk ins" are subjected to interior seating despite all those tables being empty our entire dining session is beyond me. This isn't Manhattan. 4. The restaurant bar, given how nice the rest of of the hotel is, looked pretty sad. You could see all the shelf lighting was defunct, it looked tired and not well kept. As a business owner myself, and for how front and center the bar area is, my gosh keep it tidy, lit up, and gleaming with some pizzaz. Thankfully for those of us with older kids it is open until midnight, and once again the staff is Johnny on the spot, but geez it has seen better days. I realize it sounds silly, but this hotel is pretty awesome and with the large lobby the bar area should be the North Star, not something I look at and wonder "are they closed already?"

"Great option for ski access at Blue Mountain"

10.0

Great bar and restaurant, cozy sizeable rooms, nice kitchenette features, free ski lockers, easy parking. The pool was pretty cold for a heated pool, but the different temperature hot tubs were plenty big enough. Great option in one of the best ski resorts in the area.

Still is a bit of a walk to do ski on ski off, but with the basement level ski lockers it isn't too much of a hike. May even be better than some of the "in village" lodging. Also note the mandatory resort fee per guest.

"Hotel has seen better days!"

4.0

We recently returned from a 5 night stay at the Westin Trillium House for a belated birthday ski trip. Whilst the Hotel looks lovely on the website, dont be fooled by the pictures or some reviews! This hotel has seen better days in appearance and staff attentiveness. We arrived late on Sunday after a long-haul flight and drive to the resort only to find that parts of the room description (amenities) are nowhere to be found. There was only 1 Bathrobe in the room, despite the booking being for 2. I love my husband but not that much that I want to share a robe with him! No slippers at all, I looked in every nook and cranny. No shower bonnet, now you might wonder why not just wash the hair every time... well the hair dryer was something to be desired. Unclear whether it was on it's last legs or just generally lacking oomph but it didnt blow enough air out to dry anything, least my hair. One morning my husband blew on my hair as it seemed more effective than the hair dryer! No ear buds, no face pads. As we prepared for bed, I wanted to make some tea but there were no mugs in the kitchenette, which was supposed to be fully stocked. Also, dont hope that two could have herbal tea, no such thing! It's black tea for one and camomile for the other, what a choice! There were disposable cups with plastic lids for coffee which I hate as it's wasteful and highly unsustainable. Nobody needs those, get rid of these along with your stirrers. A mug and spoon that one can wash are the way forward. Mugs were delivered along with a shower cap and second bathrobe early the next morning, we were still in our PJ's (errrmmm... jetlag!). I made a coffee and after finishing attempted putting the mugs in the dishwasher, only to find that the previous guests crockery was still in there, ready for me to unload! This is where I drew a line. Why would housekeeping not check this!? I empty the dishwasher at home enough, a holiday is for me to relaxe every now and then not to clean up after others. This really riled me up bad! Fire place had no instructions on how to operate or turn on, it took a maintenance guy to put it on pilot, yet still no mentioning of the operating panel behind the TV to actually putting the fire on. Luckily my husband worked in hotels for a long time to know what's what. Unfortunately (or more like fortunately) even he drew a line when the plug socket where the coffee machine is plugged in fell half off the wall. I found a screw on the first night by the coffee machine but didnt quite see where it belonged until the next morning. All kitchenette cupboards have dirt in them and need wiping out and some of the cutlery had the previous guests dinner still on them! On day two of our stay the shower gel had run out and we had to use the soap bar which both my husband and I had an allergic reaction to and we dont have particularly delicate skin! The elevator doors had the same dirt mark on it for 3 days consecutively until someone wiped them off and a room service tray was on the floor for almost 24 hours without being removed. Carpets are all threadbare throughout. Several times we had to walk through a private event to get to and from ski lockers/room. It was frankly embarrassing. Staff had no real dresscode and seemed to just wear whatever was clean that morning in their wardrobe, quite mind boggling. We stayed in a suite as expected it to be immaculate (we dont usually do that, we are quite happy in regular rooms. We arent snobs by any means.) but if that is the standard of a suite, goodness me, I feel bad for the people in the regular rooms. This hotel might suit people without a hotel/hospitality background and can overlook general grubbiness but to us it was unacceptable on so many levels. What was supposed to be a birthday week of relaxation was spoiled by simple things that a housekeeping manager could have easily picked up on when doing the final room check and general public area checks! On a positive note, the hotel is right at the bottom of the slopes so you can super easily carry your ski's to the lift (it's NOT ski in and ski out, you still need to carry them about 300m). It's also in the center of the quaint little village with ample coffee shops and lunch/dinner places.

"Best Choice for Skiing at Blue Mountain"

10.0

We stayed twice there during Christmas holiday seasons. We liked the village surroundings and onsite restaurant in the hotel, Oliver & Bonacini. A couple of years ago, we stayed at a two-bedroom suite so the big family could spend more time together. We liked the spacious living room for family time, and therefore reserved a family suite again this past holiday season. However, for some reason, the suite we booked was not available for us at check-in. Mr. Singh, the hotel manager, was super apologetic and offered us a reasonable solution. Tips: do not use the fireplace if you stay at a loft. The loft we stayed was super hot in our first night. I believe all hot air from the fireplace was trapped there. The second night was normal after we stopped using the fireplace.
