Der Lärm auf dem Balkon. Große Lüftungseinheiten vor dem Balkon machen viel Lärm. Man kann dadurch den Balkon tagsüber nicht gut nützen und in der Nacht die Balkontür nicht offen lassen. Zimmer war sauber, einmal wurde der Mistkübel im Bad vergessen zum entleeren. Nur eine Kaffeemaschine beim Frühstück für über 100 Leute. Personal sehr bemüht und doch lange Kaffee Wartezeiten.

We stayed 4 nights at the Boeira Garden Hotel in June 2026. The property itself is genuinely beautiful — historic grounds, an iconic giant Port bottle, lovely gardens, nice pool, well-presented rooms. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end Structural cooling failure During our 4-night stay we were placed in three different rooms in succession. In every single room the air conditioning could not bring the temperature below 23.4°C, regardless of thermostat settings. We measured this with a calibrated temperature logger — the floor of 23.4°C was consistent across all three rooms. The reason became clear when we spotted the following in front of the balcony of the first room: there is a TRANE Rental Services Conquest DE220 rental chiller installed externally on the property. A rental chiller of ~220 kW for a 124-room five-star hotel that requires an estimated 350–600 kW of cooling is a clear signal that the central HVAC installation has structurally failed and the emergency solution is undersized. Apperently there is a similar heater as well, but irrelevant for me now. This is not a comfort grievance. The hotel sells all 124 rooms as fully air-conditioned. Guests are not informed at booking or check-in that the central cooling is on emergency rental equipment. Building-wide problem The corridor temperature measured 26.5°C. There was no detectable airflow from the ventilation grilles in the corridors. The airco in the restaurant didn't work either, despite of the heat wave. This is not a room-level issue — it's a building-wide cooling and ventilation deficit. Maintenance response The maintenance team cited a 19°C outlet temperature at the ceiling diffuser as evidence the system was "working." That is technically misleading: outlet temperature is irrelevant if the system can't bring the room to the set temperature. The only metric that matters is room temperature, which never moved below 23.4°C. Internet/Wi-fi The hotel's internet firewall blocked professional work platforms, preventing my partner from working remotely during the stay — a failure of a core advertised business amenity. Apperently the TAGA (owner of the property) employees need to work by wire as the firewall blocks the use of the wi-fi for them as well. But this is "hear say". Roof top pool bar. On the Curio web page of the Boeira is stated: "For an unforgettable experience, head to our rooftop pool bar and soak in the panoramic views." There is neither a rooftop pool bar nor a panoramic view..... Resolution To their credit, the hotel offered 50% refund on 3 of 4 nights upon check-out. The first night was excluded as a "past visit" despite the same structural issue being present throughout. The compensation was accepted under time pressure at check-out. Bottom line If you're booking outside the summer and winter months you may be fine. If you're booking June–September and rely on functional air conditioning — including for medical reasons — verify with the hotel before arrival whether the central HVAC has been permanently restored. Until then, this property is not delivering on what the Hilton Curio Collection name implies. A genuine shame, because apart from the serious annoyances it is a nice hotel
